EMF, which by the way is a very well run company, got a great deal on these two stations. Perhaps it will work for EMF to spin KBAC and keep KSFQ. KSFQ, while not a flamethrower, actually covers a lot of ground from just north of Albuquerque through Santa Fe north almost to Taos. So, it might serve EMF's needs. Or, mabye EMF wants both stations so they can clear both the K-LOVE and AIR1 formats. If the KBAC group cannot buy 98.1, they can always get 102.9 or the incoming 100.7, which have boosters in Santa Fe delivering a signal similar to the KBAC booster. The 101.5 signal will never be really strong over Santa Fe, being limited to 200 watts for technical reasons. The 101.5 situation is kind of strange in that the spokespeople at 101.5 say it is employee-owned, but there has never been an application at the FCC to change ownership from James Bumpous to any other entity. So the 101.5 is actually some kind of LMA. I wonder if the employees who think they own part of the station realize this? ???
