Update on Jennifer Reed

I've had more chuckles out of this thread than just about any in recent memory. Now it's at the mention of NPR, since I do some v/o work for NPR.

The comparison to Stern and Bubba is a good one. Okay, so it's rock and roll, but look at US guys! We're rock 'n' roll listeners and we're not idiots for cryin' out loud. No reason you can't have your hard rock served up on a plate that doesn't make fun of the listener as being a pimple faced teen ******* off under the covers at night looking at pictures of female djs. Personally I'd MUCH rather get some intelligent trivia about the song or the group instead of some bimbo breathing into the mike. There are cable tv channels and 900 numbers for that kind of waste of time.

This type of approach to the rock format may be yet one more of the many collective misfires by management that continues to dig terrestrial radio's grave.

Hey.....who taught you guys to originate thought from outside the groin area?
Nothing says Rock & Roll like a schmack talkin' hottie being wrapped in coldcuts by a slutty midget intern while she(hottie DJ slut-gawdess....not slut-midget-intern reeking of spam cuts) intros Zappa's "Dynamo Hum" with her delicious Rrrradio purr.....
We are a group which likes sports radio and think the Regular Guys are talented. Isn't there room for a radio fantasy gawdess like Jennifer at OUR Mensa meeting??

RE: Jennifer Reed's "Hotness".

Three sayings apply-

1) She's a complete Monet. She looks great from afar, but as you get closer and closer, she's just a complete mess.

2) Good from far, far from good.

3) A "2" at 10 (pm), and a "10" at 2 (am).

And for the record, Rock 103 can be summed up in these few words:

Blah blah blah, "Pride and Joy" by SRV, Blah blah blah, "Crossfire" by SRV, blah blah blah.

Monet!
Man... how far we've come in this thread. From NPR to Monet. Are you sure we're the guys who listen to Metallica, Slipknow and Zep? Guess there is some compatability after all. Brains 'n babes. Liked the "2 @ 10" / "10 @ 2" analogy. Reminded me of that old country song, "Don't all the girls look good at closing time." PhotoShop and air brushing do wonders... for guys as well as ladies.

Ah.....Monet! The French and their passion for mixing fruit of the vine with canvas....
Monet's works often featured his wife - I wonder if you observe closely she loses her appeal.
Every woman has her morning look. Take the makeup off and fruff up the hair....most, if not all, lose their "magic" somewhat.
If you can do better than Jennifer Reed, either real-life or fantasy, you're a better man then me.
P.S. Thanks X-14 for the wife appreciation. She not only is much better looking but has an IQ about 20 points higher. Better than I deserve as Dave Ramsey would say!

this Jennifer Reed....she looks old, like 30 or more.
i have teachers hotter and younger than that.
how does she "sell" the sex thing? it's over.
my dad might like her, but he doesn't like
radio like i do. (is that enough "likes"?)

I take offense to this......old, 30 or more? Holy $Hit!!! Are you still in Pampers? I dunno of an age that can be classified as "old" this day and age. I have a GRANDMOTHER who is 85 years old and a pair of shorts look better on HER than they look on me. BTW, I am only 41, I guess I am an old fart too.

Am I the only one here with a juvenile fixation on sexual attraction?
This lady is pure showbiz.....as hot as Shania Twain and actually Rock & Roll sexy on the air.
Yes....her show was not an "intellectually stimulating" experience but remember, R&R is not a "Mensa" experience....it's about drugs, sex,...and Rock & Roll!
CC was(as usual) stupid to let this diamond out of Atlanta. She would have been a star if CC had actually fully promoted her.
YES, time to grow up. You don't get hired in radio for your looks, you gotta have talent. The Sex (AIDS, HIV) and Drugs (Heath Ledger, Amy Winehouse) is just cliche, not cool anymore!! It's all about Rock n' Roll which is still rare for radio since the music is controlled by corporate and consultants! And over 30 isn't old so WHY does she lie about her age, be proud! The chic was in Atlanta for just a few short months and didn't make any impact so let it go.

Pete Townsend said it best...."hope I die before I get old"
I don't care who ya are.....that's Rock and Roll!
To ignore the sexual component of Rock and Roll is to completely not understand the phenomenon of Rock and Roll! Rock was FOUNDED on sexual energy (see: Elvis). Changing sexual mores was a cornerstone of the babyboom "revolution" and R&R was the "spokesman" for this "revolution."
I agree that looks do not equate to talent. But what I will argue is that being attractive is an important aspect of showbiz. Being slutty might be a R&R stereotype but it plays well with the sex-starved male population....at least the younger guys.
I personally prefer a cold beer and a porkchop......
Jennifer Reed didn't make an impact because ClearChannel did NOTHING to promote her. IF she had half the billboards the Morning Mess has....she would have done much better.

Oh...also...I remember, when I was a younger guy, when women over 40 looked like.....well...like MOM!
It's amazing how very delightfully edible many women over 40 look now......
I think it's the way they wear their hair now.....

I got your point and I agree there is a sexual component in Rock N Roll as you pointed out with Elvis...for musicians and artists, NOT jocks! In her short stay CC did promote her in connection with the Braves games plus she had her website, the station website, myspace AND billboards! Not as many billboards as the Morning Mess true because she was an afternoon jock, NOT a (new) morning show. BIG DIFFERENCE! Perhaps if she had more time in the market she could've made some, any impact, but she didn't.

RAD --- hang it up. You can't compete with the old guys on this board. Certainly CC missed a chance,
but if you ever saw the 96 Rock website, she was exploited and did not mind it a bit. Maybe not to the
degree she should have been marketed, but I think a lot of people were aware of her additional visual
talents because her voice got them to check out the website. She's be on fire now if she was still
around. Than she got 1/3 the posts on here that Leslie Framm got after being in Atlanta for like 75 years
says something.

Taylorengineer --- really? You prefer beer and pork chops? This is what I have left to look forward to???
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Jocks are artists too! Being a DJ on air is showbiz just like being a movie star or a pop star. Just ask all the nubile young radio groupies. The DJ - listener relationship very often is much more sexual than you might think.
All personal relationships have a sexual component whether we want to admit it or not....so says Freud and his lackeys. Freud even believed the mother-child relationship was sexual in some contexts.....
So to take the sexual component out of radio is wrong.(At least dissapointing.....)
Afternoons are not mornings but are the second most profitable daypart. If I were investing in new talent for ANY daypart....I would heavily advertise.
I don't understand this. Radio is a business which sells advertising. Our weasels tell their weasels that this stuff really works. Their weasels spend millions of dollars yearly to buy our product. But when it comes time for RADIO to buy advertising......no, can't afford it.....don't need it....won't work anyway. A business which doesn't even understand the value it's own product!
So they take Jennifer with her "assets" and just throw them on the air. You know...."if you build it they will come"....more of that nonsense. And some think she got a fair shot!
Madonna is one of the least talented performers in my lifetime. Just plain miserable from any aspect. But someone at the record company decided to ordain Madonna as a "STAR" and next thing you know all you see on MTV is that abhorrent "Like a Virgin" video. Stupid song....stupid video....stupid performance....stupid insipid star.....and of course, the most important ingredient, the stupid American public.
BTW....notice that the Madonna thing is all cheap sex?
If someone spent enough money they could make you think you liked Larry Wachs singing "Like a Virgin" in a thong. We are all putty in their greasy little hands......

This is the smartest statement posted on RI this year. And Cheaper Channel continues to take and not give back. Gonna bite
'em in the $20 Billion butt...
