Looked at the sites for awhile and as of 6am Eastern www.kcop.com has "13" and www.upn13.com has changed back to "UPN 13". Strange?

EDIT: upn13.com has "13" again, can they make up there minds?

Don't know what's on-air, but to cleanse UPN immediately like this sure looks like it's a statement by Fox that they are seriously not pleased.

As of right now, WWOR still has UPN9 on their website.

I wouldn't be surprised if that has changed by the time anyone reads this!
______________

WBZ (CBS4) in Boston refered to sister station WSBK as TV38 and not UPN38 last night when reporting on this story. The on-air bug still has the UPN logo.

WCTX-TV (UPN) channel 59 of New Haven, CT is still branding both on the screen and on their website as "UPN 9" (cable positioner) here in the Hartford/New Haven DMA.
______________

Chicago is still "UPN Chicago" (which matchs 32's "Fox Chicago" brand)

I can definitely confirm that KCOP indeed removed the "UPN" from the "13", at least during the programs (I saw this during "That 70's Show"). The on-air promos still feature "UPN 13". It's kinda funny and strange to see the "13" by itself, it hasn't happen since KCOP joined UPN in 1995.

Update, 1:20 P.M. EST January 25th:

The UPN logo has vanished from the KCOP-13 Los Angeles website, but still appears on the websites of WWOR-9 Secaucus/New York and WDCA-20 Washington (both Fox-owned UPN affiliates).

For now Boston's WSBK-TV 38 (UPN) still has logo on their site (upn38.com), etc.
UPN will be no more as of the fall and I don't know when they will rebrand
themselves. As it is they call themselves the "U"--while a U is not in
their call letters (as it is with Chicago's WCIU-TV 26, which also calls
itself the U), it ties in with the UPN affiliation. Maybe they'll keep
that nickname and call themselves "TV for U" (not to be confused with MyTV,
the branding of NH indie WZMY-TV 50!)
______________

It's Official...Fox - "UP-WHAT?"

It's official, as far as FOX's UPN affiliates kicking the network mentions/branding to the curb.

http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6301991.html?display=Breaking+News

Fox Television Stations, which will lose its UPN affiliation in the fall, is removing any mention of the network from the eight major-market UPN affiliates it owns, News Corp. confirmed Wednesday.

“We’d be crazy not to cut spending money on a network we’re no longer going to be affiliated with,” said News Corp. spokesman Andrew Butcher, adding that Fox normally takes similar measures when shows get cancelled.

Butcher was unaware of specific moves, but insiders say Fox is, among other things, pulling on-air promos for UPN, scratching February sweeps radio buys promoting UPN’s shows, and deleting UPN logos from stations.

"UPN" GONE from WWOR/9

As of 5:39 EDT, WWOR-TV is no longer carrying the 'UPN' brand. It's the same logo, but the (UPN) "bubble" has been clipped out.

Curious about what happens to Acme's (in other words, WB O&O) WBDT, Dayton. After branding themselves as "Dayton's WB", looks like a call letter change and marketing overhaul may be in the works. UPN is cable only here in Dayton...a sister to CBS powerhouse WHIO-TV. So far all the "UPN 17" branding is still there but I'm sure Cox will have no problem filling the schedule with sybdicated shows or reruns of shows that air on Channel 7.
______________

Minor, nit-picky point. Acme Communications is not, technically, running O&Os, as they are not owned by WB, but rather led by Jamie Kellner (who founded Acme while he was still head of the WB, which he left in 2004). That said, I think all of Acme's 7 WB stations (not including Salt Lake City, which is being sold to Clear Channel) will go to the CW, as in each of those markets, UPN either has no OTA station, a weak one, or, in Albuquerque, a dupoloy partner.

Re: It's Official...Fox - "UP-WHAT?"

I tuned to WWOR a little while ago and noticed that the UPN logo is gone from the "bug" in the bottom corner of the screen - now it's just a box with a '9'. But WWOR's promos are still using the slogan "UPN 9" with the old logo.

Is Fox-owned KUTP/Phoenix considered part of this group of "major-market UPN affiliates?"

They should be, what with Phoenix being Market #14, but KUTP is still showing their usual "UPN 45/Cable 9" bug right now as I write this.

Re: It's Official...Fox - "UP-WHAT?"

To add to my original post, WWOR's 10pm newscast is now being called "Nine News at 10". No more UPN in the name or logo.

Tonight's "News At 10" has also experienced the change! "UPN9 News" is now being called "9 News".

The station's website (http://www.upn9.com or http://www.wwortv.com) is still featuring the old logo. However, it's safe to guess that upn9.com will soon go the way of UPN.
