Goodnight My Love- Ray Peterson
Funeral For A Friend - Elton John
True story here: Pulled off to the side of a road I rarely travel, to make a phone call. I decided in front of a cemetery would be a quiet enough spot. I pulled up to a shady spot, as the sunset was incredibly bright, but warm and golden today. Of all things, I looked into the cemetery and discovered that a former landlord, to whom I had just spoken a few days ago, had died. I had no idea that his plot was in that cemetery, but there he was, alongside his beautiful wife. He was about as old as the dirt he was buried beneath. Fresh funeral flowers. I bought a small bouquet and added my flowers along with a prayer card and a little thank you note for his friendship. I stayed and talked with him for awhile, as I figured the reason I took that route was so that I would see him and call all of his girlfriends around the country, which I did faithfully for him. One, with whom he had a falling out last year had just found a post card in a cosmetic bag this afternoon, dated the year before the falling out. She tore it up and threw it away, and couldn't believe I called just a few hours later. Another one had voice mail on, so I figured she was at her other home, the American Legion. Another probably came for services, since he left her a house or something or other.
RIP, old friend.
