URBAN IS #1 & #2 IN CHARLOTTE

David what are the demos for WBT? I would think it is an upper demo format.

Winter it was 13th 25-54. Like so many AM talkers, the majority of listeners are over 55. However, they have enough 25-54 to sell, based on image and the fact that talkers can run more spots in each hour than FM music operations, so even if they sell for less to get the right CPP on sales demos, they can bill nicely on tonage.

As more and more AMs discover that a good talk format that is doing badly in 25-54 will do amazingly better in 25 54 if moved to or simulcast on FM, we will see more conversions... particularly as billing falls off.

I should have figured out the larger spotload on WBT, it's one of the reasons I can't stand to listen to the station, it's way oversold. If there is an interview segment that's really interesting it never gets very far because they have to take a commercial break.

I like variety, but KE$HA is really messing things up for me!

And of course we can't have that can we? What makes things right for you (and you alone) is what must be on the air. What the listeners want is not in the least important is it? Nope not a bit!

Lets all make sure we program to KDM 7000's taste so that we don't mess him up!

:D

Just joking here, while trying to make a point. What the DJ wants, no matter who he is, is of no real concern when shoosing which songs to plan, or which format to run on a station. To be sucessfull you have to get the ratings and to do that, you have to play what the listener wants to hear, not the DJ. Also to be sucessfull the station has to make money and again what the DJ wants does not have anything to do with reaching that goal.

David,

Sorry for the mistake, I left in Dec 08, and thought budgets didn't get crushed as bad as they obviously have. I do know for a fact that those three numbers (6.9 peg, 9 bav, and 12 nks) were budget goals set for 08, and besides PEG corporate was pleased with the final #'s (assuming that meant they hit or came close to those #'s or budgets were restructured due to the advertising crash of Q308) By that time I was so concerned with hitting my own budget that I stopped following station budgets.

I don't know about that considering the fact that PPM has caused a number of urban stations nationwide to fall from grace instantly. WPEG will likely fall, but WBAV might stay in the top 5.

Urbans and Urban AC's are in many cases doing well in PPM if they have adapted to the PPM by adjusting to the facts revealed in PPM. Radio One's two Houston stations were originally slaughtered in PPM, but after working on flow, tightening the chatter and other things, the Urban and Urban AC stations there went up to be consistently int he top 5 and often #1 and #2 in the sales demos.

Stations of all kinds that had too much inane chatter and bad music flow were hurt. Those that were already clean, like Philly's WBEB, did even better in PPM.

That is true, PPM is the fact checker on radio stations.

To all you Urban station haters, just be lucky that you dont live in Memphis where urban stations are Number 1, 2, 3 and FOUR .

Had no idea Memphis was all black people.

Here's the deal folks, in today's Politically Correct climate, ANY disagreement is considered to be hate.

You are forced to like everyone's opinion, and never disagree, or you are now a evil HATER!!!

Now THIS IS THE TRUTH!

THIS ACTUALLY DESERVES A POST OF IT'S OWN!

But not to worry because due to climate change, this politically correct climate will not last forever! ;D

On a different note, anybody playing the new Ciara or am I the only one playing it by myself? And what about the remix featuring Bei Maejor & Andre 3000?

What a racist stereotype. Did you not know that 65% of all hip-hop sales come from white people?? Hip hop is the most color blind genre of music that there is......country music however is a different story.....

Actually, by definition of "racist", that's not racist. While some may assume it could be racist, there still isn't enough information given within the statement to conclude that it is racist.

You never know. Just as much as people may assume it must mean something bad, it could also possibly mean "I had no idea Memphis was all black people..... I must immediately move there because it's the best town in the world!" ;D

Take it seriously or as a joke, but either way, I'm still speaking the truth!!!
Never assume things!!

Anyway.... anyone playing David Guetta ft Flo Rida "club can't handle me?"
