A few more of iHeart's stations

99.9 KEZ Phoenix will flip on Wednesday
WNIC Detroit will flip on Thursday
Star 102.1 (KDGE) Dallas will flip on Friday morning

WLTW (106.7 Lite FM) did make an announcement on their website that they'll be flipping to Christmas music on November 21, but that news got deleted shortly after.

I'm a little surprised nobody in Washington DC has flipped to All Christmas yet. With everything going on there, I was thinking a station in DC would be one of the first big market stations to flip.

Which honestly, if they're going to do so, they should at least start it at 10 am. Nobody wants to hear drinking songs during their morning commute, no matter how bad the traffic on the José De Diego is.
LOL. ¡Asalto! (Best done after sunset when the beer keeps cooler).

What folks don't realize is that "Christmas Music" on the Island is unique, and mostly based on jíbaro (Boricua hillbilly) songs with party lyrics. "Si no me dan de beber, lloro" (If you don't give me a drink, I'll cry!) is a typical lyric. Here is a bit of the story of a Puerto Rican Christmas https://www.discoverpuertorico.com/article/holiday-traditions-puerto-rico

Secondarily, we play traditional Spanish Christmas songs, generally sung by a "tuna" which is a group of, generally, university students in almost bullfighter types of outfits.

And my favorite "tuna" is Tavín Pumarejo and His Tuna Fish.

For those who don't get this, Puerto Ricann Christmas music and the way radio plays it is unique in the world.

Here is a local group from the San Juan suburb of Bayamón with an example of this kind of music, best appreciated with a cup or two of coquito.

I'm keeping my eye on WASH-FM. They haven't teased anything yet, but they did mention Christmas.

I thought the mods were going to keep this thread to stations that have changed to the format or announced a time.
So you'd rather not know about what about 8 million Americans consider to be Christmas music?

(I had to explain the same thing to Scott Shannon when he was our corporate PD and I was GM of WUNO in San Juan)

One thing that I find interesting is that, up until now, with the exceptions of the Colorado and Utah stations, there are currently no all-Christmas stations west of the Mississippi River. That is about to change with both Dallas, TX and Phoenix, AZ scheduled to go all-Christmas within the next week. Still, I have as yet to hear of announced dates that stations that are actually on the Pacific Coast (including Alaska and Hawaii) are going to be going in a holiday direction.

I suppose that should be no big surprise. Last year, San Diego, Los Angeles, Monterey, and San Francisco, CA didn't go all-Christmas until after Thanksgiving. We'll see if that holds true for this year as well.

All of those markets had all-Christmas stations before Thanksgiving, which was on 11/28. KOST LA went on 11/15 and is already teasing an earlier move this year. KOIT San Francisco went on 11/22, KWAV Monterey and KYXY San Diego on the 20th.

Also this is not a complete list and only ones that we here have logged.

Last year 97.3 WZBG in Litchfield County Connecticut flipped for the first time under new ownership Full Power Radio. Where we live is the fringe area of the signal. My Mom enjoyed it because they have a bigger variety of Christmas Music than Audacy's Lite 100.5 WRCH. The problem with WZBG is I heard is that many people wwre angry about the flip and went to businesses that advertise on WZBG and demanded they stop advertising on the station.

What does this have to do with stations currently going all-Christmas...

Can we all please keep this thread to stations that have flipped to all-Christmas? Otherwise create other topics on the appropriate boards?
