ray ting said:IMHO? Rush went way over the line. He was wrong.
But it looks like here we have UVM taking advantage of a unique situation to strongarm WVMT into dropping Rush. And if the truth be known, their problem with him is likely not so much for his recent comments, but for his continuing conservative stances.
UVM apparently believes in the First Amendment only as long as it is in lockstep with their liberal views.
I'm not a Rush Limbaugh fan, but I've gotta say... the UVM folks are whacked.
I agree with Ray. Except for the fact that it was 70-ish today, I would've guessed Hell had frozen over.![]()
Paul S. Goldman, owner and general manager of WVMT, said emphatically Friday that Limbaugh — whose show is carried by hundreds of radio outlets across the country — is not the voice of his station.
One thing Goldman and the faculty critics agree on is the offensiveness of Limbaugh’s comments. In his show on Feb. 29, he used the terms “slut” and “prostitute” to describe a female law student who testified before Congress in favor of birth-control coverage.
“Awful,” Goldman said. “That’s a despicable way to describe anyone.”
Another of the signers, sociology professor Beth Mintz, addressed Goldman separately:
“I am aware of that your station does much for our community, including your very strong support of women’s health care initiatives, and I appreciate your work on this very much,”
(Goldman) "If you really want to affect change, get people to stop listening to Rush. He is not my employee, OK? He is not my employee."

That's very true, and it can. Though what shouldn't happen is government-enforced censorship,
like when groups call on the FCC to act when stations run content they disagree with. Let
the market reflect what people want. Freedom of speech/choice.
