V102.5

I am curious about WVNS V102.5. What does this station sound like? I emailed them many months ago and they told me there is no plans to stream the station. I don't ever hear about this station either. Does anyone have a sample MP3 or aircheck?

I dunno, Nock, 97.1 could become the everything for everybody station and play a little
rock, jazz and disco. With Scott driving the Arbor Mist 97.1 ship and van, wonder how
many people would jump at the chance to conquer this market for eternity or until
CC goes bust. That's for Romer, since he's not talking.

Hey, Icycool, I live in Pegram, TN, which is their city of license. Their signal comes in great here! ;D I am told their transmitter site is near Charlotte, TN. They play a lot of '80s music. Their format is what I would call hot AC. If there is a station in your area that carries the "your music, your station" satellite feed, you can listen to them and pretend it's V102.5. (Because that's what they carry overnights and on weekends.) Sorry everyone else here couldn't help you, but we tend to get a little cynical about our radio sometimes! :p :-[ :-\

Unlike most other "cities of license," we are more than just a legal ID to them. They actually come out here and do remotes from time to time! 8)

I think V102.5 is the station you turn over to when your regular station is playing something
you don't like....in the car. And if you live in Nashville, the reception is pretty bad and has
a muffled sound. A rimshot-sounding station (however, does come in a lot better than Q-108).
And the satellite feed at night makes them sound cheap and boring! Not the worst station, but
definitely there are better ones.

I can't really stand satellite hot AC or any satellite driven format for that matter. The music selection and gaps between songs are what makes it a lousy listening experience. All the same it would be nice to get a Nashville hot AC voiceover on record, satellite or not. No airchecks?

I wonder how many listeners know about their second transmitter on 102.1? It's on the Channel 4 tower in West Nashville and really covers Metro pretty well. (it's even fairly listenable up here in Pleasant View)

But I don't think I've *ever* heard them mention it on the air.

Q-108 sounds better, "format wise" than V-102.5. I can hear barely Q-108 in Gallatin, but it's got worse since WCVQ moved thier transmitter site to stewart county, almost to Dover. Q-108 play is a real "Hot AC" station. V-102.5, well I haven't figured out if it's hot ac or bright ac? Help here please!

I think it's "hot" ac mainly because they play the harder songs on the hot ac chart like "Paralyzer" by Finger Eleven (that doesn't belong on hot ac if you ask me...way too hard) and "Thks fr th Mmrs" by Fall Out Boy.
"Bright AC" would probably play more upbeat pop 80s songs like "She Works Hard for the Money" ? I don't know..gonna go look in Wikipedia ... ???

Bright AC is upbeat AC but not rhythmic. Former KGBY Y92.5 in Sacramento was the best example. Others are KBEE B98.7, WFLC 97.3 The Coast, WGNI 102.7 GNI, KSMG Magic 105.3, etc.

[/quote]They mention it as part of their legal ID every hour. W271AD or something like that.

The only way Cromwell could presently have one signal that could be heard citywide would be to simulcast the same programming over both 102.5 and 102.9. But I don't see that happening anytime soon. (Although, if they did, Bud could turn the translator off.)
