Valued Opinions

Forgive my ignorance, but shouldn't a society of opinions and information be more forward? I think it's great there's a website we can all tag along and send/receive information about radio. However, when it comes to critique and opinions, I feel there's much more foundation and fortitude behind words when we lay our pride and egos on the table.....hey, this is who I am, and this is how I feel. It's more real that way, nothing to scour, nothing to fear. This is what you call a catch-22....sure, you can boldly come out and say what you think or feel, and noone will judge you in your personal life. But then how can you honestly feel the words you put together mean anything? My name is Jonathan Butler, i'm a fortunate son of Steve Butler. There is obviously some conflict and hard feelings toward Butler Broadcasting. I guess their doing something right over there. A nobody gets no attention. Success brings admirers, as well as haters. I've surpassed the amount of opportunities i've dropped. But my feet are on solid ground now, and i'm trying to keep the ball in my court. I would very much enjoy taking part in broadcasting, and try filling the shoes of my father. I would also like to tie the loose ends that seems to be ground for so many complaints. If you have an honest complaint, that's not personal, express yourself....but you'll be taken much more serious if you include the true reason why your bothered so dearly, as well as who you are. This reminds me of elementary school, where one can tattle on who he does not like anonymously. No results or answers can take place without forwardness.

I'm not trying to feud, just keeping it real. This is a site about radio-info, so lets talk radio....and how we can successfully overcome issues in the area. If you wish to remain anonymous, by all means, keep your character. But when you become a caricture, please don't expect your statements to be taken seriously.

I'm not in a position to care what thoughts come from these threads. I've been judged, convicted, and ridiculed for years....and probably years to come. I'm mocked without a flinch, I love it when kindness gets taken for weakness. Until I discover a contrast view of radio, i'm reading whats said about the stations here, and hoping someone gets on a personal basis with me. That being said, thanks for accepting me into the board. Your time is appreciated.

Sure, pal.

Jonathan,

I don't post as much as I used to back in the day (three-four years ago). I would hope that this "feuding" on the board that you mentioned has not been attributed to with me... I've tried to stay out of the negative stuff as best I can...

I appreciate the well wishes in the earlier post. You're a good guy and I hope you do well in the world of radio. With the different stations you guys have, the opportunities are endless I am sure. I send nothing but the best to you and your family as well.

Wow, I must say that was pretty cool you approached the subject. But no, the only reason I contributed to the board was due to comments I "checked" out, and didn't appreciate. The only reason I wrote my thoughts on your behalf was becouse I heard this and that about you, and wanted to share my personal opinion. I do believe your numbers will continue to grow with prospered time, however, if KREB continues to have higher ratings I won't be bothered a bit. I

.........I actually just came back from the gas station, and heard the Bulldogs game on the radio. I'm not ashamed to say that i'm not even a sports fan or listener, so I don't hold much opinions to the degree of judging what station has better coverage. But I think it sounded good. I'm into R&B with an occasional hip hop blend. I'm having fun with it now, and would love the opportunity to see it grow. I have my fair sharings of ignorance and immaturity, so the day it actually becomes something is the day I look up and truly smile.

If you are seeking to get into tiny markets, such as Jordan, Mountain Home, Calico Rock, you might do well to stay away from the hip hop. Older R & B would work, and oldies are a sure hit.

Guess it all depends upon the markets you want to reach.

I'm from Florida, I don't even know the areas you mentioned. But if anybody thinks an urban or rhythmatic station doesn't have potential in Northwest Arkansas, I don't know what to say to them......and i'm not usually one for loss of words. R&B is my passion, and reason enough to endure attempts to get it through. Thanks for your reply. I know clients who want to advertise on stations they like, and not what best suites the demographic their company meets. I guess i'm a little in the stubborn steamboat as well, being more driven by my paticular passion in music, and not concerned as much as I should be in market compatibility. I would never play top 40 hour after hour. I would have a diverse collection of music molded around R&B and Hip Hop. But what do I know........

You're welcome - in Florida - for my valued opinion on the Arkansas board.

I moved from Florida, my dads been in the area(NWA)for almost a decade now. It's sad, I pretty much know how to get home and to the station(and stay away from 12th st....inside joke) I don't even go to Dickson st. I'm a homebody. Again, any knowledge in radio and in the area is appreciated ;D
