Underlinger - I meant that "bulk" adult club stuff in jest. We have gone down
that road for a while poking fun at it. Trust me, I am not a prude.
My only real concern for you guys is that it's tough to attract female
listeners in Nashville during the day and then put those commercials
on at night. I'd think you'd agree that it's a touchy subject.

I can give you my suggestions to improve, worth what they cost, but
not meant as a slam:

1.) Bob & Sherrie had minimal market impact or appeal when they were
on Star. Given your signal situation, I think it's gonna be tough.
Honestly, could you guys have found any other national morning show?
Better yet, have minimal local talk and focus on the music - that would
be different.

2.) Midday's sound pretty good. More consistency like this overall
would be great.

3.)I know Lulu & Trish and they are good people! It may be tough to keep female listeners when they have kids in the car and the subject gets a little questionable. The phone calls are tough to hear and the talk goes on to long. Play music.

4.) The satellite nights are the WORST radio I have ever heard in Nashville.
That has to be stopped. Dead air, music that doesn't match the rest of the
day and liners that don't match the Venus concept are not enjoyable to listen
to and are badly hurting you.

5.) Musically, you are close. Focus on that and promote it and make a few
subtle changes and you will get better ratings. I hope you have some say in what goes on at The Venus.

Bitter, no. Disappointed yes. I think you all can do much better with just
a little effort. Trust me underlinger, I wish you well. It is nice to have
someone from Cromwell checking this board out. I don't think anyone has
ever really given anyone on here any feedback from Cromwell. I stand corrected
on the attitude I conveyed. Sorry to have offended you. I hope you can help
make The Venus a success!

Re: Any thoughts

I understand what you are saying. When I initially read the post, I responded because I am proud of where I work and it hit me wrong. There are so many instances of people on this board slamming Cromwell and it's stations. They are just a company like others trying to survive in this radio business. I see good people working in this building, and the thought of them being portrayed as bad people made my response necessary.

As far as your observations, you have some very valid points. I personally don't have much to do with Venus, I work for the Buzz. But, I think the points you have made are the same things they are working on.

Thanks for taking the time and responding this way.

Someone mentioned smooth jazz on 102.5. That was already tried on another rimshot signal.....101.1. Didn't work there although they may have been partly due to that crappy satellite format they had.

Smooth Jazz did fine on 101.1, so did contemporary Christian. But both did just ok. Urban has been a real hit for Clear Channel.102.5 needs to pick a format from the three they have; talk mornings and PM drive, hot AC mid-day and what ever it is they run at night! It looks like it is really being done on the cheap.

Hot AC could work if done with tight personalities who play lots of music. Look at WNBC in New York in the 80's. As for Venus, they ought to try something different like a Hip standards format or something like Star 97.5 in Phoenix. They could also try a Rhythmic AC or Mellow Country or yes Smooth Jazz. It would be better than what's on right now
