Vintage Pittsburgh Radio Jingles

I, for one, always enjoyed the KDKA news horn. You'd come out of a Pirates broadcast and you'd officially know the postgame was over when you heard that "BONNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG!" and the news would begin.

Might not be a jingle per se, but it is missed.

I also enjoyed the heavy sounding "D-V-E Rocks-Rocks-Rocks" sounder.

One of my favorites is for KQV that Rick Sebak used in his "Things That Aren't There Anymore" special:

"You're Flyin' High with Fun-Lovin KQV, Audio 14."

I'd love to have a copy of that and looked high and low here on the internets. No luck. Any ideas on where I could get a copy? I'm a jingle collector in the process of transferring everything on cassette to this new-fangled mp3 format. (Some of what I have already is built into a jingle file on iTunes and is shuffled throughout my other songs.)

Thanks much for your help.

The son of one of the old KQV techs has the whole lot, including the great Anita Kerr series which was used when I was there in 1958. I'll try to find his address...somewhere in Maryland.

Re: Vintage Pittsburgh Radio Jingles / KQV Swinin' High

I added the KQV Swingin' High jingle to thr KQV Jingle Page on my KQV Website. http://user.pa.net/~ejjeff/jingles.html The jingle is on the mp3 player just a little below the jingle logo pictures. You can also fin the Rick Sebak video on this page... http://user.pa.net/~ejjeff/kqvideo.html The quality is poor because it was encoded many years ago on an old version of real video. I have all of the KQV jingles except a few custom grid cuts from 1971.

"The voice of the city...is a listening affair...WKPA New Kensington".

And I have the full reel, thanks to Sal Patitucci!
