I had time to stop by the TMO HQ at 1103 Stewart ave today. I know the radio ops are out in Ronkonkoma, but since the Morey Org's HQ is there, as well as LI Press, I figured I'd voice my opinion. Walked into the building, took the elevator to the 3rd floor, and when I got off, there was NO ONE to greet me. The whole office was a mess. I found one worker, asked him what was going on, he said they were moving. The whole place was disheveled, the sign for the Morey Organization was missing most of it's letters. I asked him of the changes at the radio group, he said of that was in Ronkonkoma. I said I knew, but figured I'd come here since no one picks up the phone at either radio or press.
I asked him if the company was going out of business. He said, "i sure hope not"! Anyway, I walked around to another room. I was pretty much free to walk around the place, saw many rooms that looked like former studios on it with Party 105.3 and WLIR 92.7 bumper stickers on the doors. In another office I found what looked like more of an executive. I told him that I was a HUGE fan (which I am!) of Party 105.3 and WLIR 107.1 and would be devastated if the stations changed formats or went off the air. He said that nothing was going to change, more or less. But then I asked him about why all the DJ's were fired, and the "face of radio changing on Sept.15". He said many of the DJ's left on their own accord and some are still there, like Andre.
That's clearly a lie, as Eddie the former house party DJ at Party said everyone was fired, including Andre.
I don't believe for a minute that the suit I spoke to was speaking an ounce of truth. I reminded him he'd better be right, because if they take Party & WLIR away I would be devastated and very annoyed.
