I was really dissapointed, as I travled back to where I lived for 2 years to hear Promos done by the "on air" staff. Why do stations pay for "Voice Guys" and not utilize them.
I understand if the promo is for something that is happening once, but when you have something that happens continuously, such as Sports or PAUL HARVEY. Why not use your voice guy?
Why not set your station apart from the others? Every little thing like that matters when the book comes out.
Also:
Production.
I heard numerous commercials where music was put in the background at about 1:50th of the voice, and then just cut the end off without a fade. If you are going to do a production piece, take the time to make it sound good, and if you want to be even better, make it sound EXCELLENT. Don't forget the advertiser is giving you your paycheck. I would be really, really peeved if I was an advertiser to hear something like that.
Overall, I was quite impressed with the radio stations in North Arkansas. The talent seemed very in tuned to what is going on. Now, as I made it south, I was somewhat dissapointed in what I heard.
If you need someone who will be dedicated to your staff, look around. Many, and I mean Many outstanding on air staff are out there without a job, that would do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING for you. Don't just settle for what you have.
FINALLY
both of my teams lost
17-14 they should have just played each other
