So will WABC Rewound 2009 be on WPLJ 95.5 HD2 or HD3 on Memorial Day? ???
The WABC 2009 Rewound will appear on WPLJ 95.5 FM HD3 on Memorial Day Monday 5/25/09 according to David Hinckley's article in the N.Y. Daily News on Wed. 5/20/09. Oddly there is no specific time posted in the article; I would assume based on past years that the 12 segments will air between 6AM & 6PM Eastern Time.
According to Peter Kanze in an earlier "dentist's board" posting, it will run commercial free. There will (most likely) be no live streaming of the broadcast, being as WPLJ HD3 doesn't have its own "Listen Live" link (and would normally be the replication of the WABC-AM live stream, which will be streaming WABC-AM's TalkRadio broadcast on Memorial Day Monday 5/25/09). Plus, as mentioned in other posts, podcasts of the 12 segments (which can be accessed/heard at the listener's convenience via the website www.wabcradio.com) will become available on Friday 5/22/09 at 4PM Eastern Time.

I have brought a GigaWare HD radio alarm clock with docking capbilities for iPods. It is a good unit available at Radio Shack for $69.99 it is on sale normally goes for $130.00 has inputs and outputs for hooking up to your stereo system and your TV for video. Since this my first HD radio I will say it is good when it works. However you really need to use a good outdoor high signal gain antenna. As with regular radio AM comes in stronger and FM weaker. I am not able to get WPLJ in HD period so I wont be able to catch Rewound 2009 live which I was expecting to. I am using an Radio Shack indoor HD TV and radio antenna it does pretty good for FM but not perfect. I am also in Toms River, NJ by the ocean, but still a good deal of distance from NYC. I am going to a park tomorrow in Holmdel may try to see if there is power and try to get WPLJ HD.

I don't want to hear WABC Rewound crystal clear on my iPod at my own convenience. I want to hear it in my car on the way to the beach with AM static. I want to hear it on a table radio from 1980. I want to read 20 pages of threads on the dentist board posted by people happy to hear Musicradio 77 WABC come back to life for a day. It just isn't the same this year. But at least there are no modern commercials, only vintage commercials, and today's high temperature is 77 W-A-B-C-Degrees.

At least we still get to hear it one way or the other.

A poster on the dentist's board sent an email to WABC's Program Director Laurie Cantillo. regarding the change of mind in deciding to not air Rewound on WPLJ-HD3 on Memorial Day 5/25/09, despite what was written in David Hinckley's N.Y. Daily News columns on Wed. 5/20/09 & Thu. 5/21/09. Her response:

"Our original plan was to air WABC Rewound on HD. I was not aware that Mr. Hinckley would be doing a piece on it recently or I would have gladly provided him with updated information. I hope this did not cause any inconvenience for you and that you were able to retrieve the audio from our web site."

Best,

Laurie Cantillo
Program Director

I guess she (or her staff) doesn't read the radio column in their hometown newspaper, thereby not being able to refute or clarify what's been written.

BTW, David Hinckley N.Y. Daily News article on Laurie Cantillo.

Anyone know why they didn't post hour #4 for download on the WABC rewound page?

What was the problem with hour #4?
