I believe they still have an app out there for a six tower DA at 1500 watts in Joliet not far from Silver Cross Hospital. I think that
is why they changed their COL to Willow Springs from Chicago this year so they could claim they are providing nightime service
to a town without it's own radio station.
Actually, the FCC dismissed that application in September, 2006, which might explain why Relevant picked up WNTD, though, from what I understand, Relevant is planning on doing brokered foreign language in the evening.
I certainly hope that NewsWeb puts Air America on WAIT. I'd like to see what numbers they may be able to put up if they had a signal that covers the Chicago MSA like 820AM does, as opposed to that useless signal at 850AM. I know that where I live in the Southwest suburbs, I can barely receive the signal, and it is usually of such poor quality, I can't listen.
The Score spent a considerable amount of time at 820AM before moving to 1160AM, and finally 670AM. If AAR were to prove itself worthy, perhaps NewsWeb, or another broadcast company, would consider placing it on an even better signal.
A few years ago, Harvey Wells mentioned the possibility of moving AAR to WNDZ, 750AM, which now has a great 15,000 watt daytime signal, but that didn't come to pass.
We'll see what happens later this month.
