Rob Ryan is his name. Starts his new job the first week of September.

Was most recently Director/Programming for Zimmer's CHR/Pop KLZR & CHR/Rhythmic KKYD/Topeka, KS. Also worked KKMG/Colorado Springs, Z100/Portland, OR; and WXQL/Saginaw, MI.

Let the online debating begin.

Reporter,

Don't know if your post is an attempt to slam me but in case it is I didn't get the info from All Access. If I had, I certainly would have indicated that in my post. Someone sent me the info in an IM.

Make it a good day.<P ID="signature">______________

Since Rob Ryan programmed a chr/rhythmic station would this mean they are gonna let him program wajz into a chr/rhythmic type station instead of hip hop and r&b?? Since fly 92's current format isn't so well, they can always move the hip hop & r&b to 92.3 and let 96.3 become a dance station for this area, they have the right pd now to do that.

Absolutley no slam inteneded.

Please stop

Enough of the dance station talk. Here, I will make it official:

IN CASE ANYONE ON THIS BOARD DOES NOT KNOW, Oldiesmike101 IS DYING TO HAVE A DANCE STATION IN THE CAPITAL REGION!

Now please, let go.

It is worse than The Reporter's obsession with FLY. Hey The Reporter I forgot, when are Candy and Potter being fired?

Good call.

Re: Please stop

I'm probably not the only that feels this way, i bet there is more people here in the capitol region that want a dance station too. I mean seriously aside from the ratings, I don't see the harm in a dance station here at all. Also your comment about Candy & Potter i agree with. I find myself listening to wtry's morning show for John Gabriel who sounds better than that woman with him or like most of the time i go online to listen to Max Kinkel on a clear channel oldies station in nj. Not many good morning shows at all anymore. My favorite Morning shows were Harry Harrison on CBS-FM & Hollywood Hamilton & Goumba Johnny on KTU and when Freddy Colon filled in for Jay Thomas on the Jammin 105 morning show but then again thats when i still lived in nyc.

Like I said in another thread..Albany will never support a dance station because too many are still caught up in "Rock And Roll al the way , man!!!..Stop with the "disco" talk!"

That is precisely why many in the market and most everyon outside of it find it an extremely BORING radio market....!!!!!!!!

Boring?

Almost everyone outside this market finds it boring? I would love to see the research on that. Even though they can't hear it? I would not say it is any more boring than radio anywhere else. Unfortunately, Albany is not large enough to splinter formats among 30 stations or a disco slanting format might be viable. For example, In NYC where a 2 share means 300,000 listeners, you might get away with it. In Albany, a 2 share is 15,000 listeners, hardly a number worth experimenting for.

no surprise

Of course you do not. I am sure you would rather forget about your B,E+BR rants....how Fly was finished without them......how Candy and Potter would be fired within a couple of books....how you criticized C+P for having a contract, and for working within the boundries of that contract.........how you tried an e-mail campaign to the PD to bring B,E+BR back. I am sure you would rather we move on, and forget about your baseless claims, and your ignorance of the business.

For anyone new to life: Do not use "or else" as a negotiating tool, or you may find your ass on the street.

Hmmmm.....Ever wonder why you don't see many radio people outside this market wanting to come into Albany? As someone who is in the business I can tell you there are those that have knowledge, listen to other markets, work in other markets and stay on top of the radio business. Unfortunately, many in the Albany market haven't even HEARD NYC radio much less anywhere in the country!!!
THAT is one of the reasons the market BECOMES boring! The talent only hears the same BAD people and the same bad crutches used by everyone else and regurgitating it all year jock after jock! For instance how many times do you hear a jock in Albany say an address or location and say Albany, NEW YORK or so and so NEW YORK!! HELLO!? What else would it be..Albany, Kentucky? Or... how about this one...just listen real close to spots and I gurantee it won't be long before you hear "That's right!" or "located at.." One hears it and it's repeated again and again...bad radio! Nothing new or exciting is happening very often (although I do give credit to Candy and Potter and FLY for the student scholarship stunt that worked well)! No one seeems to want to "rock the boat" with guerilla marketing, if you understand what that is. The ROck format in and of itself is BORING!! If you go through the dial in Albany it's all the SAME!!!! If you can keep an open mind and think about what most radio scanners (almost everyone) would hear if they scan..ROCK...scan....ROCK...scan...ROCK ORIENTED....scan.....LITE MUSIC......scan.....CONSERVATIVE TALK RADIO...scan....DANCE!!!!! It would stand out and make listeners certainly take notice-even if you didn't particularly care for the format!!!! That's my two-and-a-half cents!!

Sorry to burst your NYC bubble, but NYC has some of the worst radio I've ever heard. The playlists are tighter than Eliot Spitzer, the jocks are pretty bland and the spotloads are INSANE!!!!!(do your own Crazy Eddie impression). The problem with Albany is what you said though, lacking imagination. There's way too many rock stations as we all know. The feeling I get from listening to Albany stations is that they mostly just "mail it in". The CC stations for instance, PYX just brought back their morning retred Ellen Z who has done nothing for the show except maybe do the impossible and lower the intelligence level even further. Lisa was much better. She actually said things that weren't nonsense. Why is Vito still on the air? The Channel just seems to be lost in the shuffle. You have to figure, in light of WHRL be mentioned in the recent payola news, the station will be undergoing some major changes if not a total format flip. It's not like CC counts on the 2 share they bring in each book. ABC has issues after canning Sugarbear at JAMZ. FLY's #'s are steadily declining. Regent's big question? What to do when Howard leaves? It should all make for a very interesting Fall book don't ya think?

Hope you weren't referring to me... I never said NYC radio was all that great, either! There are very few markets nowadays that have great excinting radio. Usually ones with no CC stations!!!!
