WAKY-FM Now Streaming

Where is the streaming button?

I asked WAKY-FM in early May of 2007 if and when they will start streaming. The WAKY-FM management told me back then that they were planned on streaming the station sometime in the future but she couldn't give me an exact date. They first needed to look into some licensing fee issues. That was eighteen months ago but well
worth the wait. Thanks for sharing John Quincy. I forgot all about them.

I am aTV sales rep from the Pittsburgh-Steubenville area and am in Louisville for a meeting with a client tomorrow While driving in I dialed up WAKY..What a great station! I was really blown out of the water when I heard the old ABC Contemporary Radio News sounder, I'll be listening on the web when I'm back home... WAKYblows 3WS out of the water!If any WAKY people peruse this board my advise to yenz guys is"KEEP ROCKIN" ;D ;D ;D ;D ;

Greg, why are you so hard on WAKY? Did they wrong you as a young lad? They pass by your car with with the WAKY gold star? I think playlist needs to be a bit tighter and they need to stay away from anything that charted in the 80's but overall its a decent station. It's nice to have the WAKY call letters back in town and hear a few of the old jocks again. I can understand your passion for WRKA but Sister Theresa is not coming back.

LOL, actually sister Theresa is back in town and I run into her every now and then. But you are right, and I regret being so harsh, especially considering a friend of mine since 1980 is programming WAKY. I didn't mean to slam him. Unfortunately, Radio-Info doesn't let you edit your posts after a time limit.

But I'm hard on WAKY, for one thing, for the same reason I'm hard on the band that calls themselves Lynyrd Skynyrd. It plays the same songs, but it's just a replica of the original, like one of those Declaration of Independance documents you can buy on Lookout Mountain.

And I'm hard on them because someone challenged me 16 years ago.

WRKA had a great history and a great heritage as an oldies station. But it's gone and not coming back. And I don't want it to come back. WRKA went out on it's own terms at what appears to be the end of that format as we know it in America. It went out a success. And almost all that heritage and success came after that challenge of 1992.

Let's leave it at that.

Amen to that. If you wanna do Classic Hits, that's another story. But when you're trying to replicate a legend like WAKY, at least stay true to the era when WAKY had it's heyday. I'm waiting for WKLO to come back on FM & resurrect one of America's great top 40 battles. And yes, WKLO (a station I contract with) is in the Paoli/Corydon market, but just about any call sign is for sale at the right price.

I'm in an area (Corydon) where I can hear both WAKY and WKLO (96.9). It would be nice to have the rivalry back but that ain't gonna happen either, unless stations get cutback to the point where they can't make enough profit for these greedy companies and they totally get out of the radio biz. I'm very thankful WAKY is back, and its easy to be critical, but even a bad day with WAKY is better than a good day with corporate junk.

Im glad that WAKY is streaming now,, It was very hard to pull this station in considering im near Indinapolis and Required an Outdoor Yagi Directional to get it, and sometimes I would get Cincinatti instead, and you couldnt tell until they did the jingles.
