Walton and Johnson coming to Austin?

looking at thier website , the stations that are affilates of thiers are mostly rock, classic rock and one sports radio. which stations have in austin have low ratings and or slipping:

could be programmed 103.1 independtly from kvet am
Yeah, that is a possibility, but they would have to link it to some HD2 channel of which they don't really have that many (I guess. I'm not investing in an HD radio to find out). I do think that CC likes having the 103.1 linked to KVET-AM to help their penetration downtown and for the marketing aspect. It's true that W&J are mostly on Rock stations and one sports station, but their schtick suggests they would meld with the KVET crowd. Not that I think they would be better than going back to the old format on KVET in the morning. Who knows? CC forced Kidd Kraddock into Austin several times and compelled the Zone to go with Fox Sports and dump ESPN programming. I could see them forcing W&J on KVET.

Well I can't even tell if KVET even has a morning show any more when I tune in its either a worn out song or commercials.

Did anyone else notice that 1370 actually lost audience after the demise of talk competitor 98.9? I thought they would have picked up a few listeners.

Shoot, Fred, there was actually an ad in the newspaper today for that comedy translator! I guess that indicates what market they're after.

This has to be one of the worst morning shows I have ever had the opportunity to hear. I thought John Boy and Billy were bottom of the barrel... these inbreeds lower the bar to a whole new level. It truly amazes me how something like this show scores syndication. What amazes me more... is the fact that there are people who are actually listening to this. I honestly do not know what is more horrifically depressing.... the fact this show is syndicated... or the fact that actual human-beings find it entertaining.

At first I thought they had a diverse cast. Finally we'd be hearing more points of views on morning radio. But I quickly realized the only minorities on the show were character voices. You won't hear their personal perspectives. They don't have any.

Can't do any worse than what they had there before. Also ... they are promoting on the other Entercom stations. Don't recall them doing that with any other KJCE show before.

Thought I'd give it another shot....listened to it for 20 minutes, from 9:20 to 9:40 this morning.

Given the Austin market, I'll revise my estimate from six months to six weeks.

It would be less if anyone were listening.

One thing I found to be truly annoying or far from impressive or funny, was the whole schtick of some tool doing extremely predictable and seriously poor imitations of different races and sexual orientations. This show is like H E L L and A TUNA CHRISTMAS combined. This is the type of show that I would think other radio peeps would use as an example of how NOT to EVER do radio.

I have to admit that the format does remind me a BIT of Sears and Williams, but I didn't want to mention those two professionals in the same breath as......this.

I grew up on Hudson & Harrigan on KILT out of Houston. Funny, local, topical stuff every morning... and great, clever writing, too.

And that is what kept KILT 610 on the air when KRBE dumped Album Rock and went Top 40. By the KBQ launch, KILT went Country and kept Hudson & Harrigan.

I can't think of a single syndicated morning show that has done well here in Austin. The possible exception could be Bob and Tom who had a really good book right after KPEZ yanked them and changed formats. Otherwise, Austin is the city that killed Howard Stern like 3 times and Kidd Kraddock at least twice. John Boy and Billy did nothing here. Seacrest didn't last very long (though that was probably more a function of format change than numbers). What I always tell people is that Austin is just...different. Stuff that works elsewhere just doesn't fly here.
