Usually in a situation like this it's because the previous person was making too much money. They fire them, then hire someone younger for less money. I thought everyone knew this trick by now.

That station is slowly dying. The last trends were the worst in a long time. Corporate radio sucks. The downward spiral started when they let Night Train Lane go in November of `06, then Gator Glass this past September, and now the latest is Jill Laurens a week ago this past Friday. Word has it that Bobby Jack and Coyote will be only live bodies.

It does seem so odd just having those 2 as the only ones left on the air....I do miss it myself.

Actually, their most recent trend (fall arb) is pretty consistent with their numbers over the past two years (25-54 persons). They are still easily number one in all the key adult demos.

Only been here for a month ......But i really like it and yes it's alot warmer.....

The suits just don't think big picture do they?Very sad.Very few good local morning shows left in this town we got djx,the max, fpk(james bickers has a good dry sense of humor) lrs just needs to be music only in the mornings skinny j is a bad morning jock!!!Rka so so i am just not an oldies fan at least they and vez are local along with sfr is also local in the A.M.

Cmon suits pony up some of that coin!!!

WAMZ was a superb sounding station in the early part of the decade...it's sad what they are doing. I read a theory on here once which, sadly, makes sense. If you can cut your expenses by $500,000 while only cutting your revenue by $475,000, it's a "good business decision". The station will sound mediocre, but the bottom line looks better. That'll work for a little while...until the listeners decide that terrestrial radio really does suck. Then it's too late...once somebody buys a 3 year sub to XM, they're gone.

WPTI 103.1 is going to clean their clock!!!!!!!!!!!

"...once somebody buys a 3 year sub to XM, they're gone"

BUT - Bob on The Job - NOBODY is buying those 3 yr sub's to XM...did you see the latest PERFORMANCE - lost 166 Million...something is not working in their model either!

When is 103.1 wpti going to appear???

Seems like our predictions of pti going country at 103.1 and 105.1 being rebranded are not materiallizing at least not yet???

The thing that WAMZ has going for it is a loyal audience. No matter how Clear Channel shreds the station it will still hold on to the ratings unless there is an actual attack; read: full market signal and a war chest of promotion money.

Isn't it ironic that thirty years ago WAMZ was an automated entity and became live around the clock. Today, outside of AM and PM drive it's on automation, the circle is complete.
