Wanna Buy a Station?

850 in Johnstown (WKGE) is currently silent. Owner Birach Broadcasting filed a silent STA. Who knows if it will ever come back? Would make things easier for 860 to move if it doesn't.

Actually it probably says more about the condition of the facility and that current ownership put no money into it. Plus Johnstown's not the wealthiest of markets....

My guess is that with Johnstown's depressed economy and the city no longer being an Arbitron-rated
market, those nine towers come crashing down at some point. It's a sad end to a once-vibrant place
that had a well-respected Top 40 (WCRO) for many years.

Clear Channel bought both 101.7 and 1450, and for a few years, former WJER owner Gary Petricola ran them in an LMA with no input from Clear Channel.

Then, as noted above, 101.7 was moved to the Canton market under Clear Channel (today's AC WHOF "My 101.7"). CC flipped 1450 back to WJER Radio, LLC, Gary's company, and the AM remains the same local Dover-New Philadelphia station it always has been.

CC had no interest in operating the AM side or any station in Dover/New Philadelphia. They just let Gary keep running both stations (under their ownership) until 101.7 was ready to move north.
