WARM - NOT THE SENSATIONAL SEVEN DAYS!

Right you are, Rob...er, Neep! I came to WARMland in 1992, to work at what is still the greatest radio station I've ever been a part of. Terry, Kelly, Daryldavis, Jerry, and Elizabeth were complete pros who deserved their moment at the top of the pyramid, and they got it. All I did there was hand the ball off to the real stars of The Warmland Radio Show.

I will say this...I very much respected the rich history of WARM. (Still do, in fact) I did try to re-ignite the belief in the station from the inside, and may have actually been successful for a time.

What needs to happen there now is a reaffirmation of what that station means to NEPA. The mistakes should be acknowledged, the wounds should be bound, and the healing should come quickly. WARM needs to return to the policy of loving its neighbors, as it loves itself.

The rest is only a matter of time....Rebuild it, and they will come.

I went searching for Terry McNuilty stuff and ran across this Board . Hi, I'm John Hancock.
(Hey Jon David Welles...What up?) I came to WARM in early 86, left late 87. We had a nice quick run. Took the station from 8th to 2nd . It was during my time as PD (I'm not taking the credit) that we officially took Terry back out of news (although he had been doing mornings for Harry) and back on-air. Harry was doing mornings, and we hired Melanie Apple. Hall of Famer, Ron Allen did sports in afternoon drive with me, and then his sports talk show, and then Norm at night. Everybody worked hard, believed in what we were doing, and we had some success. I had a ball. We did some high profile promotions, raised money for Easter Seals, helped Boscov renovate the old theatre in Wilkes Barre into a events center (I saw Miles Davis there), ate a million slices of Old Forge pizza, and then it was over. I moved on to Florida and then to WBT-Charlotte, NC win 1990 where I still am today. It a shame what has happened to such a great call, and a legitimate legendary station. I've talked with Joey Shaver and Harry West in recent years, and keep tabs on my GOOD friend Ron Allen through his wife Maryanne.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for remembering my short time there. I hold it near and dear in my memory. That said, God Bless Terry McNulty!!!

WARM radio, the good old days. I remember growing up my mom would have "the harry west the hary west show, the harry west the harry west show " jingle playing as she prepared breakfast. And the commercial that seemed to get the most play was "the incredible edible egg." Of course, we were just waiting to hear if school was canceled. It amazes the memories this thread has brought back. My ex-finance worked there for quite a long time and it seems the end of WARM came about due to new owners overpaying for the station, then overpressuring the staff to make back their investment. Rob deserves praise for his efforts to try and keep the station competitive throughout his last years there. But alas, as any of us who worked in the business know, it is a business and it always has and always will come down to the bottom line. More so today because there are few local people owning stations and even less radio people owning the stations. :'(

Speaking of WARM, does anyone know what happened to Ron Allen? I heard he had a bad stroke several years ago. Does anyone know what happened?

Yes, that was the station that FRoggy bought to beef up its coverage.
I think that was sold to them in the mid 1990s.
