Come on guys! There are some songs that did not pass the test of time.
The 12 year old girls who loved the Archies- Sugar Sugar and numerous
Little Donny Osmond tunes are now 50 years old and want Elton John.
It's simple, don't be a DORK. Go delete it.
I will fire you if you play the Archies here.
I disagree with you totally on that one, Dog.
You should play a (super) hit from the 60's like the Archies, but not 10 times a week or right after the Eagles.
You can't call yourself a "Super Hits" station like WASK and not play "Sugar Sugar". That's what's simple.
50-year-old women listen to oldies stations so they can hear music from when they were 12 years old.
Or are you trying to win over and be relevant to the 18-24 demo with your oldies?
WASK is huge Women 35-64. Are you going to be the one to tell the sales dept. not to go out and sell that demo for an oldies station?
YOU'LL get fired, not your jocks.
If I was the owner of a mainstream oldies radio station and heard you deleted "Sugar Sugar", one of the biggest songs of the 60's, I'd assume you were clueless or were trying to inject too much of your own musical taste.
The songs pass the test of time if they are rotated right and texture-wise aren't buttressed up against a song it won't flow with.
I'm realistic enough to realize that since I'm such a big music fan, I'll be hitting the button about every other song anyway or pop in a cassette/CD because I'm sick of most of it, but also smart enough to know that radio stations (especially oldies stations) are NOT trying to reach folks like me.
The majority of (stupid) listeners aren't sick of anything like me!
(Average stupid) Listeners still request "Free Bird" and "Stairway".
