Actually, WASK-AM is owned by Schurz Communications, not Artistic Media Partners. WASK/WASK-FM already have a great reputation in Lafayette for news and information. If they place the right mix of local and national news with syndicated talk (Rush, Hannity, etc.) as well as a local morning show with a solid host and cross-promote the crap out of the station, I'm sure they'd do great in the ratings. Schurz has the ability to do what needs to be done to get enough of a buzz going if WASK(AM) flips.
You raise a good point about Artistic Media Partners, though. I wonder if AMP will place a format on WLAS if WASK breaks their longstanding simulcast with WASK-FM. Given the fact that WLAS carries all broadcasted Purdue sports, it would be the perfect place for an all sports station.
It looks like things may have the potential of getting bit interesting in Lafayette radio this year.
Strap in, kids!
