WATERMARKING AUDIO

It can be done a couple of ways. I use a short "beep" tone every ten seconds or so. You could also take the client name and reverse it. If you'd like to use the "beep" file that I use, leave your email and I'll send it to ya.

If you're looking for a way to watermark and keep it air quality, there may not be one.

I usually back my sample rate down to 22,050 or even 16,000 for spec spots.

I have some "production tones" from my days with CC. I can just intersperse those throughout the spot.

Thanks for your replies

I'm thinking and inaudible tone interspersed in the file IS possible, but I wonder if it's worth the effort. Besides that, would the broadcast equipment be able to reproduce the tone so that you could record it off the air and find it!? I know Premiere and a some others are indeed watermarking their commercials. If they're doing it, it CAN be done.

I run a looped electronic effect faintly in the background throughout any "voice only" audition that I email to potential clients.

Not loud enough to distract, but loud enough to make it unusable in a fully produced commercial.
