Way-FM is coming to Louisville

Matt Hahn of Ohio is the pick for GM/Sales-Underwriter guy at Way-Kentuckiana (104.3/WAYI).... Ops/Programming person should be announced, soon!!! ::) Matt has been GM at 95.1/The River in Mid-Ohio (Part of the WCVO group) and was the GM of Way-Fm/Clarksville-Fort Campbell/Hopkinsville... Great guy coming back on board with a great group.. Wonder who, from the past, might join him???? They need a 'silly' guy that climbs towers and jumps in rivers... Humm? ;D

Where is their studio?

Nice to know.. No local programming and no local promotional presence.... That's the major handicap with satellite programming, even with 91.5/95.1/97.9.....Way might use a lot of Nashville's 'network only' feed, but like live assist on "The River", Live, Live Assist with a heavy local presence will cater to the 25-54's at "The River" and the 18-44 day, 12-24 night audience at "The Way".... Is it me, or am I hearing a more Inspo/AC slant on WJIE and more programs than at this time, last year??? Any thoughts? 8)

One thing EMF does well is get out to concerts where national acts are playing, even if the concert is outside their immediate coverage area. WAY-FM should give 'em a little competition in that department.

I am curious to see how WAYI is going to be programmed since it is not in the Central Time Zone like the WAYH/WAYM/WAYD triumvirate.

since 104.3 is in the commercial FM band...at least the WAY-FM commercials...uhhh...
"underwriter messages"...won't seem out of place

501(c)3's are allowed to sell commercial matter on any commercially licensed station they have.. This is not new.. WSOR-FM did 45% of it's budget from call-to-action, before selling the class "A" commercial frequency to get the class "C" non-commercial frequency (years ago in Fort Myers).... As long as it is a commercial licensed facility, not one of the few on-commercial band non-coms, like 101.5/WBGW in Fort Branch-Evansville, IN... They asked and received that change to keep them from being constantly targeted by groups wanting a commercial FM in the market....

Great find William. Any word on when they start? How many Christian music stations are there now in this market including KLove and Air one?

That coverage map they show is quite generous with the signal. What are they showing, the 54db contour? If you check out the other stations' websites, you'll see it's a very generic template with a few tweaks for each market.

And is Matt Hahn any kin to you, Greg?

Christian AC:
K-Love: 91.5 (north), 97.9 (southeast), 95.1 (Floyd's Knobs/New Albany), 102.7 (Corydon)
WJIE: 88.5, 93.9* (downtown)
WRVI: 105.9

Christian CHR:
Air1: 88.3 (northeast), 104.7 (southwest and east), 88.9 (west)
WAY-FM: 104.3
WAY-FM's CHRSN: 93.9* (Mt. Washington), 93.3 (Shelbyville)

*Once WQKC has completed its move from Seymour to Sellersburg, Reach 93.9 should go away unless if they have somehow found another frequency. In all honesty, even 50-54 dBu from WAYI will likely sound better than what WFBR can crank out at 100 watts with WJIE's translator nipping on their heels.

WAYI may be in the non-reserved band, but from the looks of the wayi.wayfm.com, they are going the NCE route. Their buddies at EMF have numerous full-power stations in the non-reserved band, including three just down the road in Lexington market (WXKY, WVRB, WLAI).
