Since the death of WYCR, I think that Gettysburg still needs a local top 40 station.Since WAYZ has low ratings,WAYZ should flip to top 40 as Z104.

Well, Mr. Thighs, I'm not certain if you'd want to have an all-Spanish format without that ever-popular news service-- dammit, what was it called again?

Making way too much $$$

Low ratings in York, maybe; but HUGE ratings in Hagerstown--as they have had for 20 years. Did you see their Spring book? Wow! Ain't gonna be changing that bad boy anytime soon. Your best bet for a format switch is Smooth Jazz...

I'd love to hear that imaging... "Playing Smooth Jazz for Waynesboro, Rouzerville and Blue Ridge Summit"..

)

York/Gburg isn't their market---Hagerstown/Chambersburg is, and they kick serious butt---lots of $$$ and ratings! Better chance WGET 1320 will go CHR than WAYZ!! Now, if Gettysburg College's station had a clue-----and they do have a decent signal over there.....

Smooth Jazz 104.7!!!!?

No, no! LOL. What I meant was that if there's a station likely to change formats in the York market, it would be our pals at Starview 92.7. As much as we all love Kenny G and Al Jarreau, that thang can't be making any money.

It's not necessarily a matter of Gettysburg College getting a clue...a lot of college station's have a clue, we just have a lot of administrative red tape to navigate before we could change our format. For example at Elizabethtown I would guess we would have to, at the very least, gain the approval of our station advisor, the communications department chair, the board of trustees, the college president and a host of others before we could jump ship to another format. Now I'm not claiming to to have a clue what is going over at WZBT, but I believe they have a format similar to ours at WWEC and I would guess they have some similar things to deal with.

Last time I heard ZBT, they were a little off the wall formatically, AOR---as in All Over the Road---but it's been 5-6 years. WWEC at least does have a format, even if it's too noisy for my old fart ears...;^)---fair signal, too, gets into York pretty well. I'll tell ya, though, if they (WZBT) did go CHR, they'd get some listenership---not to mention it'd be a good marketing tool---reaching teens who are making college choices....even if they just went 6p-11p.

For a station not making any money, they have an awful lot of local advertisements, promotions, and appearances. I think WSJW is doing just fine, dollar-wise. It's a low-overhead operation.

There's an even smaller smooth jazz operation down in Salisbury, Maryland. The station hardly has ever even cracked about 15th place in the ratings, but the owners have stuck with the format for about eight years because no doubt it's so cheap to run.

Wait a minute here! E-town college hardly has a format. When I was there in 2001, Professor Yoder told me they had a "progressive format". Phooey! I was the morning show monday-friday, I modeled my show after what FM97 was doing. then on friday evening, I ran a metal show harder than that "hard-drive" show that 105.7 runs. All this with the blessing of Yoder and his college student PD.
Every song I played came unapproved from my own collection. In my morning show I played all kinds of CHR / top 40 spanning multiple years. and friday nights after basketball from 9pm-12a I played Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Sevendust, Anthrax, some Kiss, Iron Maiden, The Deftones. I wove in some comedy bits too.
My point is I was given the control and everyone loved it. E-town College has no real concrete format.
