I don't think he minds being put upon for so much, but making him also responsible for an air shift might be the last straw for even HIM.
Fred rocks. Always a yeoman's job in whatever he's called to do. Perhaps the one guy in Lafayette that could give Vizza a true challenge in afternoon drive.
I'm not disputing how great a guy Fred is.
I just feel that if he sees himself becoming another Steve Clark (for the most part, making sure all 4 stations are running, plus production, plus an afternoon airshift, plus appearances), he might say enough is enough.
Fred's busy enough trying to make AMP money as their most seasoned sales rep. Are they going to take him off of that quest? Huh-uh.
A big NO on the challenge to Vizza as well. There would have to be some sort of guarantee that after years away from the mic, Fred could step right in and do a quality airshift and know where all the buttons are. Great production pipes doesn't mean you can keep anybody tuned in.
Bob's not doing anything spectacular except just being Bob Vizza, but people know the brand name and AMP is not into promoting it's local talent. Well, if you call the very rare liner touting "Steve Clark afternoons" promoting talent...
Good point, Apollo. People buying into the "I worked in a major market" part of the interview is a mistake.
Why aren't you still there? Maybe you stunk even parttime no matter how big the market was?
I'd pick the guy who's had a solid gig down the road in Indy for a few years and doesn't want to be "handled" anymore and wants to move UP to a SMALLER market instead of the schlub who's resume looks like something off Mapquest because he couldn't stay put for more than 6 months.
