WBIH DT 29.1 Is Going Blab TV???

Just noticed this change in this link for Sunday: http://www.locatetv.com/listings/wbih#24-Mar-2013

The link will say that Blab will be on for a few hours, from around 5:30 P.M. till 9 P.M.

Their station ID now has Blab TV in the background too.

Could it be that Blab will be the next flavor of the month for this confused TV station?  ???

Wish Dr. Flinn would do the right thing and sell off WBIH.

It would be wise for him to do it.

Then someone can come along and bring a MY and/or ION type of program to this area.

BLAB's real owner is Fred Levin. He can certainly afford to buy time on WBIH to advertise his Levin Law Firm. He could buy both WFBD and WBIH if he wanted to. They're customers of mine so I know a little about the operation. You might even catch me if they still fill free time by reruning any of my shows on "goodwill". I usually find myself on BLAB in the daytime not primetime.
Cable access programming going out from Pensacola to Destin to Mobile to Montgomery.... sure does sound weird. How many people out there want to see lawyers tell you how to get in on a frivolous law suit?

I guess I should check out some of BLAB's current programming now that they've expanded so far outside of the Pensacola-Destin Cox Cable/Mediacom Cable market.

Oh, BLAB has no entertainment shows whatsoever unless you get lucky and WBIH carries "Blue Lights" on Saturdays at 10PM. Every other show is just a cable access infomercial.

I didn't even know WBIH was still on the air, lol... ;D Last time I viewed them was at least ten years ago, when one night my rabbit-ear antenna was getting some major DX from Selma and Columbus, MS.

Blue Lights is a real treat in all its poorly produced, low budget glory. Where else can you see the rich kids from Hoover High School in Birmingham getting busted by the Panama City Beach cops for underage drinking and loud music? ;D

I wonder if WBIH will carry it in HD?

The problem with " Blue Lights" is that David will produce new episodes by mixing his new segments with reruns of old segments. I watched that show religiously for about a decade until I grew impatient with all the reruns of the better arrest segments. I wish he'd just shorten the show to 30 minutes of new material instead of showing the same old arrests over and over (Blue Lights started off as a 2 hour show back in the '80s!). I know it's just one guy filming and producing the whole show but the long opening and closing credits and all those arrests reruns just killed the show for me.

I wonder if David's had to start censoring the profanity used by the suspects/criminals now that Blue Lights is carried OTA on WFBD channel 48? When BLAB was running the dual feeds with BLAB being cable only on Cox and Mediacom and BLAB Two running part time on OTA/cable/satellite channel 53, WPAN, language was not an issue because "Blue Lights" was only carried on the cable access version of BLAB and therfore wasn't subject to FCC profanity regulations. Durring the glory days "Blue Lights" was also shown on the Mobile cable access channel (Bay TV?). As far as I know "Blue Lights" has never been carried in Panama City and wasn't shown on BLAB in Tampa (is there still a BLAB cable access channel in Tampa?)

I've seen a Wiregrass Law version of "Cops" that was carried on Ozark's WDFX some time ago. That show's production was simply dash cam video and a microphone on the officer. It was still an addictive show... it's just hilarious seeing footage of a dumb redneck kid getting stopped on Ross-Clark Circle driving a jacked up 4x4 with a Confederate flag in the rear window for blasting rap music too loud.

Long story short, for those of you in Alabama that are now getting BLAB from WFBD, check out Blue Lights on Saturday at 10 PM. It's a very addictive show. For those of you that get WBIH, hopefully they'll carry Blue Lights as part of their BLAB programming, otherwise a simulcast of Pensacola's BLAB will be close to useless for WBIH. It's always possible WBIH will evolve into a separate Montgomery BLAB like the Tampa BLAB station is/was.

From what I've heard, the BLAB on WBIH has at least some separate shows from the one we get.

And I agree about the old footage. It's new to me but even though I've only seen five or six episodes I've seen plenty of repeats. Thank goodness I DVR it and skip all the flotsam and jetsam.

As for language, I've seen at least two episodes with uncensored language and even some very clearly visible names and addresses on papers. I have no idea if our Riviera Cable has a cable-only feed or WFBD. The top of hour ID shows the WFBD calls (with the car driving down the Pensacola Bay bridge) so I was thinking it was OTA.

I believe Mediacom down in Orange Beach was the only Alabama cable system to ever carry BLAB as a cable access channel. Unless I am wrong and Rivera carried BLAB before they moved to WFBD... I believe your getting the WFBD feed even if its not being picked up OTA at the Rivera head end.
BLAB and Cox did have some type of microwave relay set up to get BLAB to Mediacom head ends in Gulf Breeze, Milton and Destin and the Cox head end in FWB. I don't know much about how they work but it could be possible they're using that system to send out the new HD feed to the west of Pensacola now? I don't believe Dish or DirecTV will allow cable systems to use little dishes to relay feeds of local TV stations and UVerse is only carrying a 4x3 SD signal of WFBD... I wonder if BLAB has their signal up on a big bird for FTA type reception by cable head ends around the west end of the Mobile DMA that can't get a strong WFBD OTA signal?
I remember when Cox in Pensacola was carrying the OTA analog signal of WFGX from the old transmitter in FWB. What a mess. Unwatchable more often than clear. A nice representation of the constant tropo going on along the gulf coast.

Just saw an advertisement for Blab TV, on WBIH.

It looks they're becoming a full blown affiliate.

I see it happening.

Just an FYI:

Tropo was strong today so I was listening to Panama City radio (Pamama City is the primary location for filming Blue Lights arrests, the greatest asset of the BLAB TV network). Anyway the big news story down that way is Jerry Springer has come to town and will be filming episodes of his TV show at Club LaVela in the next week. The PCB chamber of commerce and tourism development council are not pleased with Jerry Springer bringing his freak show to town. I wonder why they feel the national (international?) TV exposure will harm the image officials have been working to improve/create for the hub of the Redneck Rivera?

Many of us enjoy seeing the rich kids from Birmingham getting busted for riding on the exterior of a vehicle and underage DUI while cruising the strip in daddy's car on Blue Lights so I'm guessing Jerry Springer will come up with something special to bring the Raunchy and Sleazy back to PCB Spring Break 2013.
I have no idea when or where the Jerry Springer Spring(er) Break PCB shows will air but it will be interesting to see what Spring Break in PCB has evolved into since the heyday of 1980 and MTV parties circa 1990.

Blab TV is gaining a stronger foothold on here.

Been surfing by there, lately and noticed it.

My prediction: Blab TV will be the new network for this outlet.

I see it happening within the next few months to a year.

According to the site, BLAB is on channel 48. Not sure where the transmitter is but, if they want to cover AL, they would need a translator. The woman on this video is cute: http://blabtv.com/about-blab/

I remember when Blab used to be on cable tv only. Cox here carried it on channel 2 until 2005?

Ride your Mule due north to the Alabama state line, North as in how the crow flies. When you get to the Alabama state line you should be able to see the strobies on the WFBD-DT/BLAB TV tower. The closest city is probably Florala, AL.

This thread has been discussing a second BLAB station located between Montgomery and Selma. Any updates? Are they letting the Black Belt watch "Blue Lights"?

I'd be curious to know if WBIH carries Blab TV in HD.

The concept of a 24 hour infomercials channel in high definition still boggles my mind. Now that I have DirecTV again (*cheer*) I see Blab TV and Beach TV from WAWD in high definition. Two barker channels in full 16:9 HD. Nice to look at but makes no financial sense at all.

UVerse carries Blab in 4x3 with the sides cut off, annoying. They don't carry WAWD at all. They have a SD channel set aside for WPAN but its been "experiencing tech difficulties" forever even though the OTA signal is strong.

WAWD is broadcasting from Holley/Navarre now, according to the FCC, with a LPTV simulcast in Destin. I can't get a hint of the OTA signal from WAWD from downtown Pensacola with a line of sight, over the water, view of the WAWD tower site. WFBD comes in perfect no matter what direction the antenna is pointed as does WPAN.

I don't expect you can pick up any of these Fort Walton stations OTA over there in Foley.

This Blab TV presentation is now becoming a reality on WBIH Channel 29.  The network now has a presence here in the River Region of Alabama.  For more details about them and their content visit these links: https://www.facebook.com/BlabTvMontgomery and http://www.blabtv.tv  WBIH is fixing to become a full blown outlet for this network.  It's now in the beginning stages.  I see this station doing very well with this new program.  Everything else so far hasn't done too well for them.  This might be their ticket to a real goldmine.  I wish them all the best.

Are y'all thinking SSN will program daytime and overnight with BLAB in primetime or will SSN get a 24 hour .2 channel?

SSN looks like a network that needs a Mobile affiliate. They'll need to get Lin or Sinclair on board for that. I guess there's a slim chance CTN owned/operated WHBR could also carry the station.
