Apparently, WBMW is acting like a little Scrooge this afternoon. At 12:04 PM, right at the end of a holiday legal ID (and the announcer saying "WBMW, Ledyard/Groton/Mystic") right as the phrase "Merry Christmas" is sung, I heard a popping sound, followed by what sounded like the needle on a record. Basically, dead air for about thirty seconds. Then, music kicked in, specifically, a song by Hall & Oates... but it was not "Jingle Bell Rock"! It was the tail end of the song "Out Of Touch," then a generic liner ("How do you spell variety? W-B-M-W") before the next song, Des'ree's "You Gotta Be" played. Then another generic liner, followed by Steve Winwood's "Don't You Know What The Night Can Do," before a holiday liner ("why do you think Rudolph's nose is glowing") and regular Christmas music resumed.
What happened there? Glenn?
