WBNX to be acquired by Nexstar & re-affiliate with the CW in Fall 2025 creating a duopoly with FOX affiliate WJW

At least Rewind TV is coming back to Cleveland. Wasn't too happy when WOIO dropped the channel.
It was surprising that WOIO picked them up in the first place, as Rewind's obvious destination would have been WJW. However, with the launch of Gray's The 365 and Outlaw at the beginning of 2024, WOIO needed to offload a diginet to carry both networks (the other being on WUAB), and since Rewind was ending at the same time, it was obvious that Rewind was going to get the boot. On top of that, WOIO constantly had feed issues with Rewind, particularly near the end of their affiliation, which made watching the network impossible at times.

I'm even more interested to see what's airing on the main WBNX signal come September once the CW comes back to the station.
Could be some shuffling of programs with WJW. Maybe some re-runs of CW programs? Probably most of the current daytime syndicated shows will remain. I'm pretty sure the movies will be gone by then. I not holding my breath for an improvement, more of a downgrade with previously recorded airings of Fox 8 News and other Nexstar produced content.

I can see Seinfeld and Two and a Half Men on WBNX as well.

Speaking of 55, I saw a Nexstar disclaimer before an episode of The Ernest Angley Hour this past Sunday. Could the station still run his Sunday morning show?

If Grace Cathedral is able to pay for the airtime, why not? They probably have a time-buy contract with Nexstar in place right now.

A disclaimer? For what?!

I've noticed within the last couple of months, even before Nexstar took over, that whatever was left of the Ernest Angley airings were quietly removed from 55.2.

Wow. Talk about now paying for airtime for what you were able to air for free on the station that you once owned.

It's a time-buy. Thus, it has the same boilerplate disclaimer Nexstar stations use for infomercials.
I figured that. Thought it was something else...

It'll be more cost-effective than running an entire television station.
Of course. As I previously mentioned, there is no need for the Grace Cathedral to hold on to a TV station nowadays, as it's much cheaper to stream and reach a much wider audience then to maintain and be limited to a single TV station.

Another clear sign 55 is in the Nexstar bucket:

They had a "Storm Fox" weather bug at the bottom of the screen tonight for a severe thunderstorm warning.

OK, so who has "movies", formerly on a WBNX subchannel? Rewind is fine but there must be five other channels that run sitcoms from the 80s and 90s. I hope that "movies" lands on a station that I can get and not one of these peanut whistle stations from that short tower near W 11th Street.

It's on 35.4 and Dabl is on 35.5 with 19.3 carrying Defy.

Movies moved to WOCV-CD 35.4, which is owned by their parent company. It's likely going to stay there for the foreseeable future.

Its been a month since Nexstar took over WBNX, and it appears that both their Facebook page and website have since been abandoned. No new posts since March 2, and their website still references Movies on 55.3. I'm sure at some point that their social media accounts will be deleted, and that their website domain will simply redirect people to a subpage on WJW's website with nothing more than a program guide listing for WBNX and The CW. Pretty sad when you think about it.
