WBSS - The Boss is Back - For Shore !

Interesting! (from the FCC web site)

WBSS NJ PLEASANTVILLE USA

Licensee: ATLANTIC BROADCASTING OF LINWOOD NJ LIMITED LIABILITY CO.

1490 kHz Licensed

My guess Atlantic Broadcasting is holding the WBSS calls on 1490 until 102.7 gets the CP to move their transmitter to AC.....Then I guess once the move is complete we can kiss WJSE goodbye as another Top-40 in NJ will be born.....Either that or another Atlantic station will flip but I doubt it.

Im not holding my breath until it happens, but if any station should flip it should be Shark. JSE has beaten them, but it doesn't matter if you score big, take for example WJRZ. If The Boss does come back and does become CHR/Dance friendly, sweet. But I'm waiting for it to actually happen. Another feel is, will this be another WIBBAGE as in sounding not like the original?

Well Nick the man who created and slaved over "The Original Boss" which was really a great radio station, is right here in town right?(smirk). He easily can cause the The Boss to happen again. don't you think?

1490's gone full circle from WUSS to "Boss" - lol.

Who's going CHR? 103.7 or 102.7 when it moves to Atlantic City?

Just what NJ needs, another CHR station!
Although I wouldn't mind the Boss format coming back

Oh No, not another WIBBAGE!!!! The Boss was such a great station back in the day, I really hope if they do it, they bring back some of the guys who were there.

Boss 97 is the reason I got in the radio business. I did my intership there but never got on the air. It just felt larger than life.I know it is small Compared to "the Power Pig" in Tampa but the way everyone that was involved with that station only has positive memories is the same way BOSS alumni talks about BOSS 97..I think it would be huge and if done right WAYV and KISS will fall. I know the guys at Atlantic very well...if they go this route they will be successful.

I remember that it was only station we would listened to when coming down to the shore from Stamford, CT. We got to see a lot of those acts in NY since were so close to the city. To have a station that played stuff down there was great.
As far as Atlantic (or anyone else) doing this type of station does not guarantee success. Thats what the guys at Wibbage thought, "build it and they will come"....it must be built right or it will fall down. As I said before, they should hire or at least consult the people who made that work. From what I have seen on these boards, they (Atl.) have made some blunder moves with personel since taking over. Although they had a few improvements this last book, they've gone done hill for the most part since spring '08. So if they are to do this it would take some careful planning and talking to the right people. Like the WIBBAGE thing, the BOSS was a heritage station, do it right...good luck to them.
