WBT-FM Returns To Class C 107.9

Huh? The only news/talk format mentioned that is going to be on 1110 is WBT, and that goes away next month. Nothing has indicated it will stay a news/talk station unless (highly doubtful) Radio One wanted to clear a bunch of syndicated shows on it or something.

My bet is FNZ goes to a simulcast on 1110. The listeners have been moved to FM, they’re not going to lose any sizable about of listeners from 92.7 to 1110, and it gives FNZ additional, better (primarily) daytime coverage in outer areas 92.7 doesn’t hit.

Possibly ESPN Radio so that they can clear their full schedule as part of an agreement with WFNZ?

I was just responding to RadioRonnie.

It also crossed my mind that they might do precisely that, program 1110 with a phalanx of syndicated news/talk shows of the Glenn Beck/Sean Hannity/Mark Levin ilk (I don't know what's on what stations in Charlotte already), as a kind of sidecar to WBT-FM on 107.9, with little if any local content.

I wonder what time they will make the swap,
Sometime later tonight, or sometime tomorrow?

I see they've already made a new Logo for the Station.
"WBT 107.9 FM 📻 Charlotte's FM News Talk."

I Guess We'll be listening in at Midnight tonight. Also, the WBT simulcast on AM/FM Goes Until About Jan 7 (I think) as that date was just mentioned on WBT.

I Found more New Logos for Mix and Praise as well.

I assume they'll change everything overnight and have everything swapped in time for AM drive tomorrow.

When KNX added its FM simulcast four years ago, it happened at 3:00 in the afternoon and all the new imaging was already loaded and programmed into the playback system.

Not all that difficult when you know what needs to be done and by when.

I'm going to take a guess on the future of 1110.

With an iminient sale on the horizon, and most likely to an ethnic or religious broadcaster, I would say, possibly an expansion of Radio Nyra to Charlotte. Assuming there is enough of a South Asian Punjabi population there, as there is in Raleigh -Durham.

Ethnic seems more likely. Only the true bottom feeders among religious broadcasters are interested in acquiring AMs these days, and I don't think any of them are capable of meeting the asking price for a 50kw blowtorch. As you say, it all depends on whether there's a South Asian (not Southeast -- we're talking about India, not Vietnam) community in Charlotte that has enough of a business base to generate advertising revenue for the station.

Now edited.
