How long ago did 104.9 flip to news/talk post-Katrina? Didn't CC have a lower rated station to flip, or this there a better reason here... perhaps its temporary?

It happen a couple of weeks ago. It's a permanent move. The ratings were good, but maybe the revenue wasn't.<P ID="signature">______________

CCU's efforts in creating a news image post-Katrina was so successful, they decided it would be a beneficial venture to have one of their stations do this full time.

The CC four-station simulcast, along with reinforcements from other CC news departments around the nation, simply outdid the competition's News/Talk station. That competing station was virtually absent following the storm.

WKNN, WMJY, and WQYZ bill very well. WBUV's Urban format wasn't billing as high. It was the obvious choice.

Thanks for the info. Any hints for a faraway observer on what "very well" might be?

I don't have exact numbers, but WKNN dominates the Male demos, WMJY the Females... and WQYZ's gospel format is growing very quickly. The sales staff is able to sell those three. WBUV wasn't attracting advertisers.

Guess the Gulf Coast cluster could give a few pointers to the Jackson cluster on how to sell Hallelujah FM.

If MJY had any 'real' competition, things might be different for them.
