Hey Starcastle,
I had the displeasure of working for that company. The on-air people that worked there were all good guys/gals. It was management that was corrupt and screwed their employees. I have sour grapes for that guy, who shall remain nameless.
I think the bone would impact rock and roll radio on LI, because they played songs and artists that the other Island stations did not and still won't. BAB plays the same songs over and over...no real variety...but they have the biggest signal so thats why they are "#1". RCN has expanded their playlist to try and lure back many listeners that defected to the bone when they were around. Now mind you, they still play artists that you hear on WALK, but they have at least tried to get a bit heavier.
If the bone was to resurface, I believe that a large number of listeners would be tuning them in. Many people complained when the bone went belly-up, so to speak. A majority of those people, that I have talked to, went with satellite radio due to the lack of hard rock here on LI. I know that their signal was also not that great, but those who listened, loved it.
That is my 2 cents...for what it's worth.
