wcbsfm 40th Anniversary in July

He was on with Mark Simone in 2006 and swore twice. The second one got on the air. Dan is 78, and he's not the fast-talking wise-cracking DJ he once was....

Looks like the big guns are being used here. Sad that Ron Lundy isn't alive to be a part of this. If only just once we could hear "HELLO LOVE!"

This could be as big as those Radio Greats weekends CBS-FM was known for back in the day.
 
I do wonder if it will be all live shifts (the names mentioned above will all be there live), or if there will be some airchecks of jocks who aren't alive or otherwise couldn't make it. Either way, should be a blast!
 
Yes they have mentioned the djs will be in the studio live...

Question About 40th Anniversary? Is this for 40 Years Since it's original Launch or for 40 years of service? The station was "hiJACKed" for 2 years.
 
I think I'll be near my computer on the 6th,7th and 8th to hear this. I'm glad we are going on a road trip this weekend instead of next. Is there a schedule posted for next weekend on the CBS website yet? Start times..old aircheck airings, tributes..shifts? If the jocks will be in the studio doing live shows this will be great! Yes, this could be as great as the CBS-FM Radio Greats Weekends..the last being 14 years ago.

Harry Harrison, Herb Oscar Anderson, Cousin Brucie, Dan Daniel, Dan Ingram, Gary Stevens, Johnny Holliday and Ed Baer are still with us,and of course some ex CBS folks like Bobby Jay, Don K Reed,Max Kinkel,Norm N Nite and Dick Heatherton are still around as well. I really hope this will turn into an exceptional weekend!

I can't wait to look forward to this weekend. They're going to play the same music (especially the pre-Beatles stuff from 1955-63) like they did in Poughkeepsie which is currently playing on WGNY's "Fox Oldies" right now. They should give Van Ritshie, Joe Manglass, Bob O and Buffalo Bob Corisino credit for playing the best music just like the way CBS-FM did this since 1972.
 
Saw the schedule. Some of the voices of the past like Harry Harrison and Max Kinkel are going to be represented by tapes of their old shows.

From the looks of the schedule, Brucie, Bobby Jay, Don K. Reed, Dan Daniel, Mike Fitzgerald, Randy Davis, Joe McCoy, Steve O'Brien, Charlie B. Smith and Ed Baer are actually doing shows.

Dan Taylor's Friday show will have these people as guests: Herb Oscar Anderson, Dick Heatherton, Bob Vanderhayden, Debbie Brown (Bill's widow), Debra Wetzel and Al Meredith.

There will be tapes of Harry, Max, Bill Brown, Ron Lundy and Dan Ingram.
 
I'm recording Dan Taylor doing his special show for the 40th anniversary of CBS-FM. Mr. G from WPIX-TV is doing the weather once again. Herb Oscar Anderson, Dick Heatherton, Bob Vanderhayden, Debbie Brown, Debra Wetzel, and Al Meredith will be his guests on this special show. I'm going to do this all weekend. I'm going to skip Joe Causi and Ron Parker, because I'm going to work today and it's Friday.

I can't wait for Cousin Brucie to return on CBS-FM this evening at 6 PM for 3 hours. He hasn't done that since 2005 before "Jack" came along, and he didn't appear on the "NY Radio Greats" from 2007 until 2009, I'll be recording it at 6 PM tonight and I'm looking forward to this one.

If you're up in Poughkeepsie listening to "Fox Oldies", they're playing a lot of pre-Beatles songs along with the rest of the songs just like the way CBS-FM sounded like 40 years ago this weekend. And I've heard "Runaround Sue" by Dion on Fox Oldies and it turns out to be the very first song to be played on CBS-FM back on 7/7/72, and it still being heard on "Fox Oldies".
 
I am so enjoying this, glued to the radio all day LOL :) Hearing old aircks and people live, Its Awesome!!! I think they are doing a great job :) Now, I am listening to Charlie B Smith, great voice as Ziggy on the station. WOW!! I heard my favorite CUZ tonight and he sounds great as always, Pat too. Thanks and BRAVO to WCBSFM for this wonderful weekend, So glad to hear the old Program directors and Brian Thomas who just left wcbsfm came back for this celebration. :) Thanks Brian and Thanks to Chris putting this all together. On Saturday evening's Norm.N. Nite program from 6-8pm, he played the hits from the summer of 1972 and finished the show with the Top 5 records on Billboard's Hot 100 chart for the week ending July 8, 1972 - chart page here.
 
I remember when CBS FM flipped to oldies in 1972, it was a few months prior to my 13th birthday. My brother is 12 years older then me, and I remember it like it was yesterday. My cousin, close to my brother's age, came over our house and said "have you heard 101, they now play oldies." My brother turned it on, I was listening to it with him, and as they say the rest is history. I immediately fell in love with the station. While most of my friends in the '70s were listening to PLJ and NEW FM, I was listening to CBS FM.

This weekend brings back those memories. My cousin now lives up in New Hampshire, and my Brother now lives in Las Vegas, but right now I feel pretty close to them.

That was the time WABC positioned thenmselves from "Superhits" to "Powerhits".
