This is just sad. If someone wins a contest they should follow through with it! NBC CT's Troubleshooters get to the bottom of it.

It's true... The station would have nothing to gain and everything to lose if this was intentional. I admit, I don't know he whole story, but from what I understand, this may have been a problem with one of the sponsor/clients. I always wrote in the contest rules that as a station, we weren't responsible for clients not delivering. However, if it happened (it never did with us), we wold make it right. And it seems like CCC is trying to make good. I'm very curious to see how this story develops.

WMRQ is taking care of this lady.

1. Four new tires from Tire Depot in Bristol.

2. Free Oil Changes for Life from Executive Auto Group.

3. Turnpike Motors in Newington is doing all the body work and installing the thing for the wheelchair.

4. She's also getting a free dinner from Aziago's Restaurant in Southington.

5. She's also getting a free loaner while the work is being done on her vehicle.

I cut-and-pasted the entire link above and the clip played fine.

I once won second row "WWE Raw" tickets with them in 2002 and everything was fine. Of course, my prize was only two tickets and a couple of small merchandise items from WWE (CD, t-shirt, etc.).

Wait for Fuller's :30 second promos scheduled one per hour talking about how nice a guy he is. He LOVES the opportunity to sh*t on another radio station, whether it's fair or not.

This really sounds like a problem with the prize vendors, and one that'll probably never happen again. I don't know the situation, but it definitely reminds me to cover EVERYTHING in writing.

Sure just piss all over the station doing a good thing.

Anyway I'm not a fan of either station (I don't care for the music), I will pick WMRQ over WCCC. It's completely ludacris that WCCC pre-empts their music for 9+ hours every Sunday for Patriots football. This has nothing to do with the fact that I'm a Giants fan. I don't see the point of having a 3 hour Pre-Game then the 3+ hour game and then a 3 hour post-game. An hour pre-game and an hour post game is enough. I also don't like them pre-empting their music for Hockey.

WCCC Beethoven 1290AM is a good station however except for Don "Quack-Quack" Imus.

WMRQ definitely jumped all over this, especially the morning guy. Funny stuff.

I believe it's WAQY-FM 102.1 of Springfield, MA which wastes their time with the overkill three hour pre- and post- game Patriots coverage, not WCCC-FM.

As for the Connecticut Whale and WCCC-FM, they'll only be airing their Saturday evening games now. The rest of it will be for those 5 or 6 people who can actually pick up WCCC-AM 1290 of West Hartford. Here in New Britain's south end, I get a so-so signal during the day and nothing at night. :-\

And now, WCCC will screw any CT Whale fans by only airing Saturday night games on FM and the rest of the schedule on its flea-powered AM signal which cranks out all of 14 watts nighttime. Here in Windsor Locks, I get very little for a daytime signal and of course, nothing at night. No NHL, no WCCC-FM, no hockey!!!

ok here is the deal with this:
If WCCC stated in the contest details that the prize was to be awarded within a certain time frame and that the details specify that whatever the prize would be completed, fit a certain time frame, and they failed to complete the promise of the time as stated by the contest details specified by WCCC , then WCCC could be in violation of the FCC rules and subsequently fined. However, the matter may not be actually with WCCC, but one of the vendors (which could very well be out of WCCC's hands). The fact the reporter failed to get a response from Marlin/WCCC and got a lawyered up response from that one business tells me that we definitely are not seeing both sides of the story here. It sure sounds like this woman tried to push the auto-body shop to do the work at a much faster schedule than they could allow. Who knows what her demeanor was on the phone with the auto body shop too. To say that "WCCC screwed a customer" is purely judgmental, and a cast can't be made until more details come out about what happened. That flip side of the coin, I talked about.
