How about CBS radio forcing Soul 106.3 out of its format by going Urban AC. V-103 needs some REAL competition!!!! It would be the most profitable at this point. Besides 105.9 has a much better signal than 106.3 and it would actually serve ALL of Chicago, not just the south side.

It strikes me that if ALL of Chicago wanted that format, SOME smart owner would have gone there already. Sheesh.
First of all, you need to STOP being a hater!!!! Number two, listeners of a particular format don't just live AND work on one side of town!!!! If your logic were true, then V-103 wouldn't have existed!!! I just think they (V-103) needs some REAL competition with a STRONG signal!!!!

Not a hater. Just tired of people who say the same sort of thing, over and over and over.

If there was money to be made with the format on a better signal, someone would already have done it. Period.

That's your opinion. That doesn't mean it shouldn't happen. I will laugh in your face if CBS radio decides to take on V-103. Besides, what do you have against my posts anyway? You don't seem to do this to anyone else but me and I am kind of sick of it.

You think over what you just posted. I'm sure you'll come to a conclusion.

I couldn't actually have pointed it out any better myself.

Look, I am not going to argue. I did think over what I posted, or I wouldn't have done it in the first place. I don't see what is wrong with V-103 having REAL competition, not a rimshot station you can't get past the south side.

And as I said, if it was financially viable, someone would already be doing it. There's not enough market share for another station in that format. Simple as that.

A new format called"FRESH"!?Sound's like the name of a feminine hygiene product!

It's what people have said about New York's "Fresh 102" (the old WNEW-FM). :p ::)

Even the logo looks like something that should belong on a Kotex box.

Ew. This wreaks (pardon the pun) of male management coming up with a concept they think will appeal to women. Never a good thing. I can't see any female manager coming up with this slogan/logo. Ick. ::)

got a question...

Could the CBS dimbulbs pull what they done in Detroit
by that i mean , Take LIVE FM and turn it into 97.1 FM/1270AM WXYT "Detroit's Sports Powerhouse"
and that means on thursday till monday at say 3pm its best of WCKG, then you hear a bit of static followed by the chicago bulls announcer going .."ANNNNNNNNNND NOW, CHICAGOS SPORTS FANS HAVE A STRONGER VOICE,MORE POWERFUL, MORE FOR THE FANS...INTRODUCING...105.9 FM/620AM THE SCORE"

I hope not!..but you never know it IS CBS after all (accent on the BS)

What would be wrong with sports on FM in Chicago? Detroit did that because they were already using 97.1 to air sports. Plus some are moving their news/talk stations off AM and that company is Bonneville.

Nah, 50,000 watts at 670 KHz trumps the 50K ERP for WCKG. So I wouldn't say more powerful or stronger...just on FM.

You can't pick up AM 67 inside a high-rise office tower, but 105.9 does come in. AM signals just don't penetrate these buildings. That's where FM comes in.

And Clear Channel and Cox and... n/t is slowly picking up speed in the migration to FM.

Period FM.

I laughed when I first read this, thinking about how this thread had taken a turn down Bizarre Parkway. Yet, consider all the monikers radio stations have adopted over the years: The Point, Hot, Mix, Cool, Jamin', Q, Z, Y, B, The Mountain, The Peak, The Blaze, Fire, Pink, Breeze, The Lake, Jack, Mike, Bob and Alice (and by extension, Dick and Jane) and so came Fresh. Like the deodorant and vaginal spray.

It's probably just a matter of time before we hear, "D**che." "D**che 102," "D**che 98.1" and who knows, "D**che 105 Point 9... Women love it, and it's strong enough for a man!"

Imagine, as Rod Serling might intone, the possibilities: The Morning D**che. D**che For Tuesday. D**che At Work. The first station promotion wherein expensive designer purses are given away to caller #9, you guessed it. D**che Bags.

You heard it here first, folks. Clock's ticking.

How ironic. The auto editor prohibits the proper spelling of the French word that translates as "shower" and the Italian, "water spray," hence the "**" You can say the word and show the product on TV to sell the product, but God help ya if you try to post using the word. Guess I should have spelled it phonetically as "Doosh."

Where's George Carlin when we need him!?
