Here is a HOT update on the ongoing WCRS-LP/WCRX-LP timeshare dispute:

http://agentofcurrency.blogspot.com/2010/06/update-bexley-public-radio-time-share.html

It appears progress is now being made to resolve this dispute!

I hate to say this but i would bet that thats not good enough either, from everything i have read it seems to me Simply living really just wants Bexley to go away, and i dont think that is going to happen. Hopefully the WCRS folks prove me wrong.

There was a meeting a few days ago, I think some good things may finally be happening.

As a matter of public record, WCRS did ask, per Mr. Davis's previous campaign, for a reconsideration of the FCC's rollback of their time. WCRX, did as expected, objected to the reconsideration, citing no change, and no new information was presented, and thus, why would reconsideration be necessary.

I am pretty damned sure the FCC didn't want to see that again!

Also, certain individuals have insisted on pushing Simply Living to transfer their license to them, passing along selective advice to the Simply Living people, who are not broadcasters, as correct information, although a lot of it appears to have been individually self serving. This is much the same as the original "advice" Simply Living, and apparently CRIS, and Groveport to do the previous timeshare controversy.

In addition, it has been those same people, who have presented specific persons involved with Bexley as "bad" to many of the Simply Living folks.

The truth is, that most people at Bexley, and Simply Living, (and TNN and CICJ for that matter), don't know each other, they have never met, and as jakej said in an earlier post, his opinion was shaped by a comment that another person said, that he chose to accept as gospel! There are a lot of opinions being thrown around, that everyone operates on, which are not based on actual fact.

But, thankfully, those folks are all sitting down and talking, it is apparent who the "bad doobies" are, and everyone is seeing this as it really seems to be, with more victims than instigators, and short of a few people with their own agendas, most are beginning to see a solution. The question is, can the damage that the instigators have caused be undone, and what needs to be done to repair that damage?

What that might be is still unknown, but the direction seems correct

I'm assuming that you see the "instigators" and "bad doobies" as being on both sides, and not on just one.

neither, actually

Sounds like, and correct me if i am reading this wrong knowbetter, there are a few people who have been using the situation to create a rift between the Two remaining parties, hoping to use that to gain control of the licence, since they could not get a competing license on the air. then they can use 102.1 as a platform for their own agenda.

Pretty much...what we all are finding is that there have been a few parties, who claimed to be working in the group interest, but as the entire matter is being reviewed, it is clear that they really wanted to control the entire station from day one.

In a way, it was brilliant, being the respected individuals who supposedly knew what the were doing, so everyone followed them without question. Now that the questions are comming up, it will be fun to see then "dance"

But it has hurt Community Radio in Columbus, big time, since now there is a major lack of trust between the remaining parties. If it can't be worked out, that distrust will only grow.

What questions are coming up? What the heck are you talking about?

Not going to call any person out in public, that's against my principles...

but, there have been some key people, spread over a lot of the project, whose actions now seem a little questionable, at best. This is not just a single individual, there are at least 4 that I am aware of, who seem to have advised, taken actions, individually and collectively, that have shaped this project. From where I, and others sit, there are questions to be asked, those questions won't be that easy for them to answer.

I can understand judgement calls, I make them everyday, but my judgement calls are fair to all parties involved. I have been open with Simply Living, and Bexley, and clearly stated when an opinion was mine, or the groups I represent. I personally will advise people fairly, and clearly with the topics I am asked about.

But I won't mislead people, so they believe they can do things, or simply because that is what I want them to because I want something. It's wrong to put people and organizations at risk because of ones personal desires. That seems to be the case here, the expanded hours seem to be a perfect example. The reconsideration another, it most likely did more damage than good for WCRS.

Being a spoiled brat isn't always good. Spoiled brats don't always prosper. Threats and innuendo play out, so It's time to get past this, before it really gets bad.

So are you saying that Simply living and Bexley are sitting down and talking directly now about how to get past this, and hopefully the talk of transferring the license to The Neighborhood Network, off the table. as i get the feeling that would not be in the best interest of Community radio as it was hoped to be. just based on reading the information i have been able to find.

There are sit down meetings and discussions. TNN is not an official consideration in any of the meetings so far, since for all practical purposes, they are not involved. There are some casual talks with CICJ and TNN, but in the entire scheme of things, they, as the translator, or potential applicant, have nothing officially to do with the current situation, which has to be resolved first.

it still kind of amazing with all the fighting over the station, that no one can take the time to come in and actually make sure there is something going out over the air, its 4:06 and still just a dead carrier with no programming. even the web stream is silent.

Maybe they were broadcasting a 3 hour tribute to Simon and Garfunkel's classic "The Sound of Silence"

Or maybe the lesser-known Simon & Garfunkel hit, "At the Zoo"? (Great song, BTW.) Or maybe a remix, "The Sounds of Silence at the Zoo."

Everything's up now and has been for a few days, guys, so you can cool it with the put-downs.
I know everyone's hyperventilating about 106.7, but if you want to hear some real rock and roll radio, just tune or stream into my show tomorrow and Friday at 7pm.

touchy??

Okay, instead of "put-downs", I should've called them wisecracks. Less touchy?
If anyone would like to download or play last Friday's brothers extravaganza (featured artists the Flying Burrito Brothers and Columbus' own Gibson Brothers, along with the Allman Brothers, the Cowsill Brothers, the Everly Brothers, the Kirkwood Brothers, the Ramone Brothers, the Reid Brothers, the Righteous Brothers, the Stinson Brothers, the Walker Brothers, the Wilson Brothers, and the Wyatt Brothers), here's the link: http://wcrsfm.org/audio/user/18. It's the top show listed, #168.
