WDAE now on FM

WDAE needs to turn off the stereo on 95.3. I don't know if they're over-modulating the signal or what. It just doesn't sound right to me. Besides, the 95.3 signal just doesn't seem to be getting out as well as 94.5. My reception of 95.3 even in NE St. Pete sucks at times and that should be prime signal area. No way is this thing sounding good around most of the Bay. I say flip it to mono and let's see if it's any better.

Although it would improve their reception, I doubt they're going to turn their stereo off as many newer radios won't lock on to a mono signal.

I have to agree, that I don't know that turning the stereo off would help resolve the reception issues. I'm beginning to wonder if they have actually relocated their transmitting point from 49th St to Gandy Blvd. (I know the radio-locator site indicates they moved, if fact they showed the Gandy Blvd location, while they were still broadcasting the JOY FM and still on 49th St). If in fact they are on Gandy, I'm wondering if they're running on all cylinders? From my location near the bayfront and USFSP, 95.3 should have a stronger signal than Thunder 94.5 and they don't.

At first I was thinking it was all the tall buildings/condos in downtown, being in the line of sight between me and Gandy Blvd, but now I've noticed the static and general poor signal even north of downtown as far north as around 38th Ave N and 4th St.

drt,
st. pete

38th Ave N & 4th St N is about halfway to Gandy (and maybe even more than halfway to the Gandy transmitter site, as the bird flies). The signal should be better than that.
