WDIZ Rock 100 FM

Hey, I've lived in Orlando all of my life, and WDIZ was on the air playing rock when I was in high school in the 1970s. As I understand, it was going to be a Disney station originally (hence "DIZ"), but something happened to switch the format.

WORJ was called "Zeta 7". I worked in Orlando radio and knew some guys who worked there in the early 80s. It changed format around 1982 to "Joy 108" and played elevator music.

WORJ.COM now has a stream up on their website. It's a Live365-version of what the station would sound like today.

"...Remember Baxter and Mark, Slatz, Scotty Phillips, Rad Messick, Greg Morgan, all the others?"

Greg Morgan!! I partied with that dude!! I had arrived in Orlando all of about 3 weeks prior and found myself at Morgan's house in Altamonte with some BJ-105 co-workers and some other 'DIZ folks. That was ..maybe March of '86. Nice party. too...(LOL)
