Ok folks, I am new to this posting thing but I have been reading everyone's comments and I am from the Auburn area. However, I do listen to the stations in Dothan from time to time and I just gotta say, WDJR 96.9 has no idea what they are doing!!!!

Jerry Broadway has never been able to program a station and never will. I feel really bad for the talent that he has working on that station. He nor anyone else has any right to bash the talent on WTVY 95.5.

I mean let's be real. Isn't he the guy that fired Brett Mason by e-mail. (HOW PROFESSIONAL!!)

For my listening pleasure I have always and will always prefer WTVY over WDJR.
Their talent sounds like they are having a good time and they seem to know that radio is supposed to be fun. (unless you work for Broadway)

Amie, Mike, Ken, Elisabeth, and Dave, (I think that covers everyone) You guys keep doing what your doing and let Jerry continue to sink the ship he's sailing.

Oh, I almost forgot I took a look at the ratings from the last book and if I were getting my ass kicked by WTVY I think I would keep my mouth shut until my station was #1 in the market. (that's just food for thought)

Well, there's my 2 cent. Hope everyone has a great day!

Shady,

Are you my Subway lunchmate from Bham?

I thought you left the market

This is very entertaining. Being a person who knows about all of the things mentioned in this thread I feel quailified to comment on them.

1. Dothan radio
No, it's not market #1, but it is just as important to the people who are working here

2. Country radio
WTVY has made a legitimate run at WDJR. I would place the 2 stations on a pretty even keal at this point, with WTVY having the advantage in on air delivery. The jocks all sound like they are having the time of their lives. There is something infectious about that. If the management hasn't changed since I was there, then WTVY has the advantage there as well. The person at the top must be motivated enough to actually work on a weekend or attend personal appearances if they wish to be successful.

3. Billing
I hear billing is up at WDJR (due to a great staff that I know from personal experience) and an amazing manager who knows what she is doing and got things back on track.

WTVY may not take the conventional approach to schedules etc. but they certainly get numbers and results, and in my last days there were dominating the country billing in the market.

4. Being fired in a email
I guess there are worse ways to be fired. But pretty much being fired sucks no matter how it happens. When the personal element is brought into the equation then it makes an impact. Having a person whom has claimed to be your best friend for many years fire you in such a cavalier manner is a tough pill to swallow, especially when you personally put your reputation on the line to save his job twice in the past 1 1/2 years. But the friendship bargain can easily be abandoned by one party. It has happened before and I am certain will happen again.

5. Success
If you want to continue to be succesful don't ever question the decisions made by a person who A) has the ability to fire you B) has ownership conned into believeing what an amazing employee they are C) has a mountain of medical obligations and fears losing their job D) will elimiate anything they feel is a threat to their security no matter how false their assumptions may be.

6. Radio
It's a job. It's supposed to be a fun job for the most part. You are not curing cancer or saving the world. You are entertaining people while slipping in advertisements for your clients who keep the bills paid. That is what happens in market #1 and it is the same thing that happens in market #191. There is no difference. Most of what you say on the radio is at the very least an exageration and at the most just blatent lies. You are not the great and wonderful people you make yourself out to be. People in radio basically get paid to exagerate and lie. I am not knocking that, I am just trying to help you put your perceived "greatness" into perspective. This isn't the last day ever someone can get a rebate on a new car. The concert with the B act is not nearly sold out. There will be plenty of tickets at the door. Tomorrow's show will not the the most amazing thing anyone has every heard before.

Save the perceptions of greatness for your PD or GM. For anyone who has been this business for any length of time, you can easily see what radio is and what it is not.

Some days I miss radio, other days I don't. The betrayal by a supposed friend is the only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth. But it isn't the first time it happened, and probably won't be the last. Every dog has it's day and as my grandmother used to say, "it all comes out in the wash"

Right! Next you'll tell me that the d.j.'s are not really "live" on the air!

"Cripple Fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" -- South Park

:)

ha! ha! ha! TOOO Funny. The only thing Amie will ever be successful in doing is running 2 perfectly once good stations (WTVY and WKMX) in the ground. When will Styles get a clue? Oh, that's right! They're too busy running the stations that they care about in PC and LA to really care what is going on in Alabama.

This thread is simply confounding. I don't think that is Jerry Broadway saying all of that stuff back to Amie, though. Jerry is more professional than that. Amie is also a friend of mine, so this is all kinda hard to take in.

I know you guys are better than this. And to be honest, neither station sounded that great to me when I was there last. This is coming from someone who's home is Dothan and who worked at WTVY for 5 years. It is so hard to keep from saying some things that I would love to say right now to some of the people on this thread and what they have posted.

In light of the recent threads and speculations or should I say speculative threads, I thought it a good time to dig this out of the archives.

Thank you Oh Wonderful and Mighty Webmaster/Boardmaster for saving this wisdom.

It is funny how much of what was predicted in this thread came true.

WDJR: Broadway out - ratings up across board - morning show number 1

WTVY: takes nose dive after ego takes over, the dumbing down of the listener runs rampant

The interesting part is the possibility of AP and JB now buddies and partners in this mixed up mess.

Interesting....very interesting

Did you notice how many of the posters in the old thread don't post here anymore?

Daddy Dan won't let the children post anymore :-(

You can bet your donkey they still read them though.

DADDY WAS ALWAYS KNOWN TO DISAPPEAR AT THE OFFICE WHEN HE WAS NEEDED. NO WHERE TO BE FOUND! I GUESS JS JUST GOT A LITTLE TIRED OF IT.

Yea, you could find Daddy dan anytime of the day down at Hunt's back in the bar, smokin and drinkin the day away, they are good buddies with him, he has frequent flier miles over there.......good ridance. Really surprised that it took JS this long to see that Dan the Man was not quite what he claimed to be.

So he's gone a week now and a quiet week it seems to have been. Can someone say what's going on at Dothan's Highest Point? Please try and keep the nastiness veiled with sarcasm so the board masters won't spank our hands and take this thread away.

JS had to have had someone in mind to come right in after DB.

Yea I agree with you Stewy. Amazing at how quiet everything got and also amazing that the other thread just vanished not once but twice. Can't believe that all is so very quiet at the highrise.........so very unusual.

It would actually be nice if there were professional comments on this board. Most of the posts are hateful and angry.

There's no problem with having spirited discussions, but that seems to be something that cannot be done with regard to Dothan and Enterprise.
