Has anyone noticed listening that WDOK is no longer using "Soft Rock" in any way possible? They're still Soft AC, but not using their longtime name/slogan. The logo though still has the "Soft Rock" name but with the WDOK call letters de-emphasized. That was when the calls weren't used too often around 1999 and 2000. Ironically, the calls are emphasized a lot on air as simply "102.1 WDOK."
They've also picked up where the now old WMVX left off. WDOK is doing an '80s-oriented lunch, a Saturday night retro show, and "Totally '80s" weekends on occasion. Smart move. They pretty much all but ditched the 70's and 60's, leaving those decades to WMJI.
Also, they've had a stable weekday lineup for the past two years - Trapper Jack, Terry Moir and JiM McIntyre mornings; Nancy Alden middays; Desiray McCray afternoons; and Delilah evenings. This has been the most stable lineup since 2007. Nice to see that after changes in mornings, middays and especially afternoons. Overall, the station sounds great, but they need to change their logo to match their on-air identity.
