WDRD 680 "Radio Disney"

So that was the real story behind the missing phasor...did anyone figure out how it ended up in Pennsylvania? Frankly, I'm very surprised that John, Sr. would jury-rig anything like the "phasor" originally hung for AM 680.

And, yes, Dale was the original CP holder for AM 680, filing the 301 in the mid '80s sometime. Believe it or not, he also held the original CP for LPTV station W62BM, which later moved to Channel 24 as W24BW (dba WYCS), when I helped my brilliant friend Virgil Baldon build the station out for new owners Jerome Hutchison, Sr. and Jr. in the spring of 1996 on a short-notice call. The station is now WKYI-CA, owned by the Smith interests of Clarksville.
Wasn't there a Channel 62 near Lexington?

How long before they add local talent?
Afternoons from 3 to 6.
Any word on who the local talent will be? I'd love to hear Valvano again.
i heard the local guy today. very good talent.
What was his name?
Listened today. His name is Jason Anderson. The show is called "The Zone". He does a good show. But I didn't hear any phone calls. 680 needs to get the word out about their station and their local show. Give 790 some competition between 3 and 6! BTW the # to call in is 502-267-9680.

It might help if Jason were actually in Louisville. I heard he's doing the daily Louisville show from their station in Kansas City.

Really? Well someone is at least in the louisville studio screening calls.

I guess that's pretty easy to do. I read that the new WLW evening host actually does his show from Richmond, Virginia.

Yes, there was a full-power Channel 62 (first WBLG-TV, now WTVQ-TV) which moved up to Channel 36 in the late '80s. They are Lexington's ABC affiliate...I'm not sure what their digital RF output channel is.

As far as WDRD-AM, I'm sure that as soon as they get an ops person in, they'll load all the fills, liners, drops and IDs into automation to follow the ESPN Radio tones whenever they fire. For now, they just duck net audio at :59:50 and do a full ID to keep it legal. Plus, I think a call letter change is down the road...the current calls are too close to WDRB and WKRD for marketing comfort.

Actually the move happened in June 1980. Channel 62 signed back on the air eight years later as a short lived independent station. Before digital, there was a CP for Channel 62 to operate at 5 million watts at 2000 feet with a tower located halfway between Lexington and Louisville. It look interesting on paper but never happened.

Bob Valvano now has a local sports show on ESPN 680 from Noon-3PM Weekdays. That means that WDRD now has 6 straight hours of local sports talk each weekday. (Bob from Noon-3, and Jason Anderson from 3-6.) I've also heard Andy Sweeny on 680. (He was on 1450 as part of The Big EZ show.)
Hope they keep up the local sports talk, and guys, please broadcast The Cincinnati Reds this season!

I'm glad Valvano is back on the air, just sad its against Joe Elliott.

Dose WDRD have a website yet?

I seriously doubt Joe Elliott's audience and Bob Valvano's audience overlap much.

If either even have an audience since they are up against Rush. Wonder how they will do in the ratings?
