Weakest Stations in DFW

I live one mile (as the crow flys) from the 1700 tower and have one radio that will not pick it up after sundown and two that will.

The problem isn't really with your one (bad?) radio! As part of their relicensing to Richardson KKLF built a different site for nighttime. The tower is southeast of McKinney, just north of Lucas:
http://tiger.census.gov/cgi-bin/map...IES,&off=streets,GRID,shorelin&ht=0.5&wid=0.5

Interesting. Is there anythig else using that tower or just 1700 during the day? There are two turns I make going to the house and 1700 will null out 820 and 1310 for about 2 seconds. Weird.

Always thought that was a strange place to put a tower. It's kinda between two small hills and a ridge line to the north. It does have a good LOS to the south which was the origional pourpose I guess.

AM depends on ground conductivity, not line of sight....If the soil was good to the south for groundwave, thats why they built it...
and I think just 1700 uses the site. FM uses LOS......and would be best on the ridge :)

Its not my radio. 1700 KKLF comes in Loud And Clear all he time hear. I got me a Really good radio. A Grundig S350 And im in a Brick Building

Define "weakest"...my first thought was weakest format, or weakest at what they do...like KDBN is weak at programming real classic rock, for example. ;D

One station I miss hearing is KETR in Commerce. Although I'm living on the eastern fringe, the signal is so-so at best...and their playlist isn't too bad, though real inconsistent (basically a non-com Jack.) They used to come in much clearer. I wish KMAD-Whitesboro could beam towards DFW. That's about the closest to the 1970s-80s version of Q102 (formatically, not terrestrially) as DFW listeners can get at this time, at least (having ex-Q102 programmers and jocks staffing it at ABCRN helps!) The Bone comes and goes, even in the heart of DFW. 94.5 is doing amazing better with the new tower at Ethel...the EQ could be tweaked much better, but the signal's pretty consistent no matter where I drive...a VAST improvement over the Edge of old, and leaps and bounds better than the old KZRK and KDNT and KGAF. KRNB's signal has dramatically improved in the last year or two as well.

The biggest disappointment has to be KLAK 97.5...with the move to Tom Bean, TX, I'm not picking it up any better than I used to when the xmtr was in Sherman/Denison.
I get both of those Pretty Good. Although 88.9 did come in much clearer
And im talking about Wattage and how far it goes
