WEEI daytime producer incessantly texting 98.5's evening show?

BobLobel said:
I agree on the pillar of arrogance part at EEI, but isn't it always smart not to mention the competition? I can remember the times I wanted but never mentioned "go watch Channel 5 and Mike Lynch" but always held it in.

Also former EEI turned Sportshubbers have sent out flashboy Mark Bertrain as the sacrificial lamb. Supposedly, he called Heslam and was out to make a name. Kinda of stupid story if you ask me, I still would like to know what the Sports Hub gains or EEI loses out of this. It must be a slow week.

Bob, [I'm assuming that you are actually Bob Lobel]
Your post was called to my attention by colleages and I feel it is necessary to respond due to its defamatory and libelous nature. Your statement that I called the Boston Herald or tried to attach my name to this situation is utterly false.

This suggestion does not even make sense. The fact that Damon Amendolara revealed the information on the air about 24 hours before a story was ever written should be enough evidence that nobody called the newspaper. On Friday morning, Toucher and Rich discussed the topic throughout their show and even talked about it when they crossed into the Tanguay and Zolak show.
This very thread was started at 11:13 AM on Friday with links to the audio of all of these shows discussing it. Wouldn't this be the reason the story ended up in the Herald? What would I even have to gain by making such a phone call?

I have never bore any ill will towards WEEI or Andy Massaua. Furthermore, I have never spoken to Jessica Heslam.

I'm smart enough to know that making a name for yourself comes from doing a job well, and not spreading gossip to a newspaper. Considering your experience in 2005 with a case of libel, you should be smart enough not to spread irresponsible rumors on an industry message board.

Heh-heh :) That kind of phone prank doesn't even rank. Back in the day there was a phone answerer who somehow wormed his way in to WABC named Joel. He was a 40ish nebbish who after a while started acting like he was a crucial part of WABC. He wasn't, he was just some guy who wormed his way in to answering the request lines and writing down song requests for the jock. He wasn't getting paid. He worked sometimes during Howard's show. Here was this 40-something year old guy who'd show up to answer the request line every single day for no money. After a while his attitude made him a pain in the ass so they they kicked him out. So to get revenge, Joel took out ads in all the NY papers advertising some non-existant apartment that had a ridiculously low rent. The number he put in the ad for the non-existant apartment, was the WABC hotline number.

A month later I come into do my shift at night at WXLO in New York and there answering the phones for the lady before me....is crazy Joel. I didn't know about him yet, only that he was a pain in the ass telling me the DJ (I was 19 years old at the time) what to do. I didn't need him answering the phones and nicely requested that he should leave when the lady before me finished her shift. He was furious. A week later I got a telegram from Jordache Jeans Company on 7th avenue that read, "Having heard you on radio we would like you to audition for our radio and TV campaign. Please come to (whatever the address was on 7th avenue) at 7AM on Sunday morning." Of course I showed up at 7am, and there was no audition or anyone in the building till around noon on Sunday. LOL. I had been Joel-ed.
