The stations are so fundamentally different that it's pointless to compare them. In some ways I find the FAN callers accents and sense of entitlement unlistenable. But if I wanted to hear a 20/20 at exactly on Twenty, I'd go to FAN and it would be there. This is a well run, if unsatisfying machine.
EEI's hosts can be jerks to the point of embarrassment: mine not theirs. Hardly a day goes by where I don't say I've had enough and preset off to another station.
Program content revolves around standard talk-radio staples, less sports dependant, than FAN.
* It would be cool if we had an power FM station to compete with EEI as FAN has the 1050 ESPN outfit, who took the msg teams away. Untill that happens EEI is going to stay the cash cow it has become, in spite of the high rights fees it must pay.
I would disagree with BigO that a Boston version of M&MD wouldn't work here. If you could actually understand them(unlike FAN) and they got rid of the Frank from Glouster types who make EEI a haven for geeks who love the sound of their own voices, a well run sports station do well.
