Weigel Buying W27EA-D in Cleveland/Akron

But it appears to be only showing the subchannels that were available about 10 years ago.
They pick and choose in an odd way. I do recall it being a red letter day when WQHS was added to the, then Plain Dealer TV Guide, in about mid-2002. They'd argue "Space constraints", but lacking all of the local channels is a little careless (To both travelers and the locals). I'd rather see less cable channels in print form.

IIRC - The "National" TV guide they tried to extort us with was a little vague with local network channels, in their "Non-network" time slots. Kind of like "Hey...There's /stuff/ on WEWS between 9 a.m. and noon...and 3 and 6:30 p.m." or whatever the "Program yourself" hours were at the time.

What type of antenna are you using? It sounds like you might have some interference or the antenna is in a bad spot.
No argument there. The basic RCA antenna by the window. I'm actually happy that it picks up as many stations as it does. I do have cable, but like some of the choices over-the-air has to offer.

Some newer windows can block signals so it might work better to the sides of the window. Indoor reception can be tough but usually you can find a decent spot.

35 was coming in pretty clear for a bit, showing mostly stuff from "Biography" shows. Strangely, it jumps from 35 to 35.12 with nothing on 35.2-35.11. I popped in to check it out later in the evening and 35 was gone but 35.12 was still there.

Decades will take over 35.1 on November 1st, bumping Story Television to 35.2. There is nothing else between that and 35.12, and many other Weigel stations carry EMLW on that .12 sub as well. Basically .12 is assigned to provide enough spacing to stations that have many more subs so that new ones can be added before EMLW. Since EMLW is likely temporary, assigning it so far down would allow for easy removal without reshuffling recently activated subchannels that came after it on every station.

According to Zap2It, 35.1 will make the switch to Decades at 6 AM November 1. I assume that at the same time, 35.2 will light up for Story Television as well.

Still "Story TV" between 6 and 7 A.M. , and became "Decades" after 7.

Channel 55.6 - Is already dark.

(Odd, that I didn't have to rescan to get 35.2)

Curious to see if other Weigel's go to 35 and displace "The big guys". 19.2 has been MeTV forever, but you never know...

Both Decades and Story's "where to watch" pages have been updated to their respective channel positions.

WBNX has already pulled Decades from their website.

Strangely, only my Samsung TV and Zenith converter boxes deleted 55.6 from their memory. Everything else still sees 55.6 along with it's PSIP data, so it's still active, but being treated as a hidden channel on some devices. The encoder for 55.6 appears to have been turned off, resulting in a no signal message from the device is being displayed.

Start TV's contract expires at the end of November. It could be the next one to hop over to WOCV-CD.

Couldn't 55.6 be used for one of the subs not seen in Cleveland?
I don't know what's left that WBNX would potentially pick up. They're not interested in This TV (only when it was originally operated by Weigel) or The Grio, and I doubt that they would pick up one of the Sinclair networks, like Stadium or TBD. Retro maybe a possibility, but it won't bring back the localized Son of Ghoul airings. Of course, this all depends on the existing contracts with the other low power stations.

Beginning March 27, Decades - seen on WOCV channel 35 - will be rechristened as Catchy Comedy, and focus strictly on sitcoms.

Primetime will be highlighted by Norman Lear sitcoms (All in the Family, Good Times, Sanford and Son) and the original Night Court, which is now pertinent due to the new revival on NBC.

Of course this all comes when WOCV has just recently been picked up on Spectrum Cleveland channel 15, giving it greater coverage.

WTF? I like it's current incarnation, there's no need to turn it into a repeat of sitcoms I can catch on many other diginets.

Nooooo! I can't stand Learcoms - they are all the same - just people sitting around arguing. And aren't they already airing on other diginets?

Me TV - the main retro network which Decades/Catchy spun off from - just began running All in the Family on Sunday nights.

Good Times and Sanford and Son air on Get TV (WQHS 61.3), and one would assume their days are numbered over there.

The Learcoms were trying to be urban based, topical, and "socially relevant" as CBS wanted to get away from their reputation as a "hayseed network" (with all their Mayberry and Hooterville based shows, as well as Hee-Haw and Lassie), thus we had the "Rural Purge" in 1971.

Along with the Learcoms, the "Rural Purge" also made room for more urban/adult oriented shows like Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, and M*A*S*H*

When Decades first launched in 2015, it tried to be a kind of high-brow diginet, not following the standard template of Me/Antenna/Cozi etc.

But as time went on, the quirkiness wasn't cutting it, and more and more sitcoms were added.

So now they just decided to go all in on sitcoms and change their name.

By having a definitive format, the soon to be Catchy now falls in line with the other MeTV "specialty spinoffs" that focus on one particular slice of the pie

H&I - male targeted westerns/action/sci-fi/superheroes
Start TV - female targeted dramas
Movies - self explanatory
Story TV - historically oriented documentaries
Catchy Comedy - sitcoms

All with MeTV serving as the mothership, having a little bit of everything.
