Weigel Buying W27EA-D in Cleveland/Akron

What's going to air from 1:30 AM to 6:00 AM?

Well, here's what's there now:

1:30a - Get Smart
2a - Sgt. Bilko (Phil Silvers Show)
2:30a - Car 54 Where Are You?
3a - Dobie Gillis
3:30a - Abbott and Costello
4a - Our Miss Brooks (X2)
5a - Dark Shadows (X2)

So outside of replacing the definitely non-sitcom Dark Shadows, they really don't have to do too much, and can pretty much leave it as is.

This isn't as painful as the rebrand first sounded...However, I liked the "Decades" theme and too many of these shows are already on too many diginets.

Instead of primetime comedy's, I'd rather see some of the "long lost" dramas return. MTM had several better ones "The White Shadow", "Hill Street Blues", "Lou Grant" and "Saint Elsewhere" to name a few. Also a few more long lost shows "Trapper John M.D.", "NYPD Blue" and "Our House" really deserve to be rerun.

Weigel's biggest ball drop here? The name "Catchy Comedy", isn't very "Catchy"...I don't quite understand that step backwards.

Through The Decades is going away as well. They could have rebranded it, but it doesn't appear that they've produced any recent tapings since 2019, all of which have been reruns since then. Too bad they didn't showcase any more years, as when WBNX first picked up Decades, they had a special that showcased the year 1968. That seemed interesting, and I awaited for other years, but sadly that never happened.

I also wonder how long this rebranding has been in the works? Probably quite some time, and likely the reason why Weigel chose to move Decades off of WBNX, which may help put WOCV-CD more in the spotlight once the rebranding takes effect.

Two strait hours of Lucy seems excessive. They could have paired Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore back-to-back

Remember, it's an hour of the 1962-68 Lucy Show, then an hour of the iconic 1950s I Love Lucy, not 4 straight episodes of the same show (which they'll do weekdays from 6-8a with Full House).

Looking at the schedule top to bottom, we have family sitcoms in the morning, the "First Ladies of Comedy" middays (Carol Burnett, Lucy, MTM, Laverne and Shirley), Learcoms early evenings, and the "Smartcom" block at night

It would even be better if they took a few shows off of their original MeTV channel and swapped them out with some of the CC shows that were barely, if ever, on MeTV.

And yes, I'm looking at you MeTV weeknight primetime schedule that has been the same predictable schedule since the dawn of color television -- or at least it feels like it!!!

A lot of these shows currently airing on Decades did air on MeTV at some point for some time, but that was back when the network was still new and not available in many markets like it is now. Not to mention adding more airings of The Brady Bunch to Catchy Comedy's launch schedule. Haven't we been tortured enough with 2 hours of TBB every Sunday afternoon constantly for the last several years on MeTV? Same goes for Hogan's Heroes every weeknight at 10 PM for who knows how long?

Who else thinks that Catchy Comedy sounds more like something that Decades or MeTV would name a programming block after? How are they going to crunch that down in the channel label? Comedy? CComedy? CatchyC? CatCom?

I can't see the team behind Laff being too happy with the new channel. Laff is also and all-comedy outlet.
Laff is nothing more than the same 5 sitcoms played over and over again with some movies thrown in. Weigel would easily mop the floor with them, much like they did to Quest when they launched Story Television. I enjoyed Quest at first, but now they air mostly reality shows instead of the documentaries that they originally aired. Story Television is now the go to place for History/Discovery/Biography Channel reruns.

I know, but it's still 2 hours of Lucy. It doesn't matter to me though since I am at work during the day.

With all these various diginets airing sitcoms now, I wonder how long it will last before there is some kind of consolidation?

A lot of these companies have numerous diginets that specialize in this that or another.

Laff is owned by Scripps, which has a ton of specialized diginets:

Grit - Westerns
Bounce - black targeted
Defy - male targeted reality
True Real - female targeted reality
Laff - sitcoms
Court TV - legal/true crime
Scripps News - self explanatory

So the comedy diginet scarfs up what it can and serves it's purpose

So let's see, diginets airing sitcoms either completely or at least partially, we have Cozi, Laff, Antenna TV, Me TV, Rewind, Get TV and Decades/Catchy Comedy. Any others?
