Welcome KMX's new PD

Remember the movie quote from Col Hodges concerning “the average life expectancy of a Marine second lieutenant dropped into a hot LZ in Vietnam in 1967”? (16 minutes) Welcome to Dothan, Aaron Tyler. Remember, rent. Don’t buy. The average life expectancy of a kmx PD under MAGIC is 6 months. ‘Clock’s ticking.

Good luck! 8)

Stewy:

The Welcome Wagon called....they want your membership card back! ;D

By they way, since you're the expert on lyrics and song titles around here, could you tell me the name of that Fleetwood Mac song that plays EVERY MORNING at 7:50 during the Rick and Bubba show? The 8am break is always Bad Moon Rising, followed by Boogie Shoes, but the title of the Fleetwood Mac song has plumb evaded me. Some of the lyrics are "been down one time, been down two times, and I ain't goin' back again". Help me out, before someone finally figures out how to play local content during that break instead of the filler music provided by R&B.

That is Second Hand News off Rumors ('77?, maybe late '76), think the lead vocals on that cut were Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie. I believe it was the first cut on the record. One of the best. My personal fav on that wax was Gold Dust Woman.

Actually that Fleetwood Mac song was Never Going Back Again, the third track off of RUMOURS. A simple track, pitting Lindsey Buckingham's vocals alongside his fabulous guitar work.

Wait, wrong song. Second hand news has the "goin down down down down" in it. Wrong song, sorry. The one that you speak of is Never Going Back Again. Makes more sense 'cause Second Hand News has a line in it talking about,"Won't you let me lay you down in the tall grass and let me do my stuff" which really doesn't fit R&Bubba.

nash beat me on the correction.

Thanks for the help. It's been driving me crazy for about 2 weeks. Awesome song. Don't know how much longer I can hold out hearing it every day at the exact same time, but so far, so good. I'm a sucker for a good guitar song, and that one definitely qualifies.

As long as he adopts the DO BOY attitude he will be fine...Do this, Do that and don't think for yourself. The proof is in the job....For someone with no PD experience, but is now a PD for a 100,000 watt station???

What a poor choice for PD of a 100,000 watt station. Tyler is young and inexperienced, but thinks he is the cat's meow. None of his radio jobs have lasted very long, probably due to his 'high and mighty' attitude and inability to get along with others. He is full of himself and condescending. I have talked to several of the air staff and they are already rolling their eyes, at the new 'know it all.'

Six months? Maybe, if he's lucky.

Reality check....

It doesn't matter if it's a 1000 watt stick or a 100,000 stick. It's still MARKET 192.

Nothing wrong with getting your first PD gig in that size market.

I'm reading some of these posts and am laughing at the mentality of them. Whatever your reason for hating on Tyler, I don't care. But, it's probably because he got the gig and you didn't. Or you're 40 and and taking orders from a 28 y/o.
Or maybe your little comfort zone just gone blown out of the water. Maybe some combo of reasons?

Agreed po boy, agreed. I've yet to hear on air a reason to point out mishaps on the board. Since the arrival of KVD (every time I say or type that I can't help but think of the WWE's Kevin Van Damme) the on air structure seems tighter at all stations. Alas, it is Magic. It used to be that a dismissal from a gig was baaaad news for getting new work, but in this day and time it is almost a badge of honor to be released from certain organizations.

Sorry, answered inside his quote above. Ce la vie.

Well There is nothing wrong with your first PD gig being in the Dothan Market.

My First PD gig was there for WLDA (Wild 100).

I can't say I know the new PD but I wish him good luck as we all know PD is not an easy job.

I applied for the KMX PD gig too but I guess they saw something in the kid they liked better.

Good Luck Arron you got a great staff esp Bryant Corrbitt(the teach)

side note:
Stewy Hows our Trojans looking for next season?

As seen All Access:

"HERITAGE CHR IN SOUTH LOOKING FOR NIGHTS
Magic Broadcasting's 30+ year heritage CHR in Dothan, Alabama, WKMX, is searching for its next 7-Midnight star! Sounds like Aaron Tyler is trying to make some changes. So soon for a New Kid on the Block...

Anyone else see some strange stuff in the ad?

Shady, we'll all know by the end of Sept; 8/28 Middle Tn, 9/6 LSU, 9/13 Alcorn State (home), 9/20 Ohio State and 9/27 Oklahoma State. Two of the first four opponents played in the BCS Championship game last year and yet the Sporting News said the other Trojans (USC) had the toughest non-conference schedule. They must be courting McCoy (USC Alum) to put their programming on some of his stations. ;) But what I'm most anticipating is when those over grown lizards of yours resume playing us in '09 (?).

roxy, very astute. I do see a few innuendos hidden in plain sight in the ad.

Fits the perfect profile for Tragic. Hence the name.

As Roxy and Stewy said, The noob needs to be taught to write a proper innuendo-free ad.
