Welcome KMX's new PD

There we go again with the age difference. He can't be as bad as that selfish pig on Big Brother 10 right now - Jessie. What's so condescending about age difference? After all, when I used to work at McD's there was this girl who was very bossy and was younger than me. I felt she did not have any authority to boss me or anyone around simply because she was not a manager but yes I also felt that way too. When someone does have an important position higher than you these days you do what they tell you to do (unless of course it's something crude) or risk being fired.

Yeah I bet ppl would be tee'd off if I suddenly was the PD of like KIIS FM in L.A. or some other big station with no prior experience....just a thought, although I do know music and what people like (I study the charts) than some of the blokes at these stations now.

Reality check....

It doesn't matter if it's a 1000 watt stick or a 100,000 stick. It's still MARKET 192.

Nothing wrong with getting your first PD gig in that size market.

I'm reading some of these posts and am laughing at the mentality of them. Whatever your reason for hating on Tyler, I don't care. But, it's probably because he got the gig and you didn't. Or you're 40 and and taking orders from a 28 y/o.
Or maybe your little comfort zone just gone blown out of the water. Maybe some combo of reasons?

Captain Obvious here...but KMX is not KIIS...and you're not gonna program KMX.
most PD work is grunt work...it's all in the details...lots of detail work.
"studying the charts" and "knowing music" means little.

radio folks are the most concieted people i have ever encountered (excepting lead singers of course).

"i know music forward and backwards" is the most tossed epithet.

i have been in music retail, radio, record company promotions, recording artist and studio producer.

one constant is that the people who work in music who go anywhere have no negative attitude toward any music or any part of the process to get the job done.

"it was a fluke" is heard if someone they don't like (or don't like their style) makes it good. they think it has nothing to do with hard work just a lucky break. sometimes luck will get you in the door. luck will not take you to success without some sweat and real work to back it up.

radio is a business. don't like the business model? get a new job. simple.

Aaron is a great guy and does know his stuff... I should know, I've had the pleasure to work with him. Give the guy a chance and stop busting his chops. I have no doubt he'll do just fine.

Well As I said before I don't know Arron but He seems like a good guy and from what I hear he knows radio.

So I guess we will see Good Luck Arron just watch yourself bro there are snakes there and not all of them are in

your building. Some are about an hour and half down 231 South

Well said Shady, I've heard him on air as well I have to agree he sounds good and the station is sounding much better....That's a sure sign Tragic will mess it up. I feel bad for the guy...His Bio on KMX says he is 24, to young to be tarnished, but I see it coming. Good luck Aaron. Hope it works out for you.

Come on...by now we know the Tragic business model. It's the one they inherited from Styles (Just with less shady business practices)... If you have a decent staff, you fire them. Plain and simple. (Or let them walk, ie John Houston (a while ago), KC, and Big Mike)

Happened to the KMX staff, happened in PCB, happened at KDAY, so we know it'll play out the same at kmx (lower case for the latest incarnation/to clarify).

Facts: ...in PC the staff was stable until "Tragic " took over in April of 06, and that is when the great exodus began. (Oh, did I mention that they were at 107% of budget?) Thats right 35 employees left in a period of less than 12 months. Resigned. They brought in the dream team from GA. It's not working...not making budgets, even with the recent cuts.

Just the facts ma'am.

Yes, PCB may have made some money...But in Dothan, the 'ol Styles mantra was: 107% of zero is still zero. And trade doesn't count ;D

What? Don't get that...are you saying there was 0 revenue? ...trade doesn't add to the bottom line...however, in PC they paid commission on trade 10%, it does help the overall operation of the company. (Not personal trade of course) but hey that was four years ago...what has happened since who knows...just what we hear.

Without spilling too much, I've just been told by little birdies (Blue Jay's???) That since 2006, revenue has continued on a downward spiral. And that the top billing station in the market from 199x-2006 no longer can claim that title.

WOOF, OTOH, seems to be having no difficulty in the $$$ department. Thanks to the hard work of Leigh and the crew!
